Challengers in yards

These were taken by a UK guy on holiday in the US.
The white one is at Wildcat Auto Wrecking in Oregon. The burnt orange one is in a smaller yard in the same general area.

Yeah the Challengers are in what appears to be a MoPar friendly junkyard/salvage facility. They look in decent shape. The 'SE' burnt orange one is pretty nice and looks pretty solid. I wonder if they are for sale or are being placed for restoration? The white 73 looks pretty soild as well. Is that a 1968 Dodge SuperBee next to the white one?

How long ago were these taken Dave? What did the orange one come with according to the numbers? Anyone know off the top of your head?

That VIN is an R/T SE with a 440.

The photos were taken a few weeks ago I believe. I don't have the details on the location of the yard with that R/T SE.

I imagine if you picked up a Mopar Collector's Guide (magazine here in USA) they probably advertise in it. I still have my copy they were handing out at the Mopar show last month. I'll look through it later this week and look to see if they have an ad. There's not that many Mopar salvage yards around anymore. There was a big one on the other side of the state I live in but the owner retired several years ago and sold the inventory. Now it's spread all over.

Wild Cat Motor's is not too far from where I live. I'm going to check it out. Maybe, next weekend. It's in Sandy, OR.

How far is Bend, Oregon from there/you Pat? I used to get all my Kawasaki Parts from Muzzy Kawasaki in Bend Oregon! :mrgreen:

That wrecking yard "adventure" would be pretty cool. Take your camera and some fresh batteries! We need many pics my friend! :wink2:

Bend Or. is a couple of hundred mile's. Been a long time since I was there last. I plan on going to Wildcat Auto Wrecking on Saturday. Just want to check out what they have, first hand. I'll be sure to take the camera. :wink:

Sorry Eddie. :oops:

I didn't make it this week. Dumb Nisson needed a new starter. Oh and a new dizzy cap and rotor. Plug's and wire's too. All of a sudden, I've put 100,000 more mile's on this Sentra. And it need's a little attention. 261,000 mile's total. It poured rain all weekend, bad for picture's anyway. I spent some money on the commuter car this week. Suck's!

But, this is the car that save's the money to put into the Challenger. It's a rice grinder but, at least it was made in Tennessee. :thumbsup:

Thanks for attempting Pat. I just serviced all the vehicles I had planned on doing for winter, Mom's Toyota, my brothers Chrysler Minivan, my wife's Jeep, my Dad's Chevy(he's 84 and still drives to get his smokes), My neigbors godawful Cadillac,(I cant stand g.m. cars), and many more :roll:

why do they bother me? :biggrin:

You can service both my Dodge Trucks in under 1 hour tops! :s009:

It was a pretty cool day! My wife wanted to go too, so we called it a date. I did take her to dinner afterward. :wink:

The guy's that work there are pretty cool. They all had to come out and look at my Challenger. I felt pretty cool. I was surprised there weren't anymore Charger's than what they had. They had four or five 66-67's, one 71, and the rest were 73-74. No 68-70. :tears:

If a guy want's to build a Dart or Duster, these guy's have it. These guy's have been here since 88 or 89. I still can't believe I never knew about this place til' now. :roll:

That's O.K. They said they had a customer last week come in. He live's over the next ridge. His Whole Life!! And he didn't know about it either. :lol:

Thanks so much Pat. That took some effort and we appreciate it. That selection of MoPars is great! Some decent project cars left and the prices seem to be reasonable. Yeah 68-70 Chargers are very rare anymore and finding any example will be difficult,(Thank you Hollywood and Duke fanatics), :mrgreen:

I love that 'job rated low box' Dodge Truck. Those are pretty rare. The rarest Dodge Truck would be the 1957 Sweptside. It was a dodge truck with a 57 Coronet car ass end and tailgate. I think less that 500 were built. Pat dont feel bad about the question the wife asked you about the grass growing inside the cars. My wife thinks the equator is a country. I keep telling her I am going to take her on vacation there, beautiful country the equator! :s024:

According to this book, the Sweptside was produced from mid-'57 to '59. It utilized Dodge Subarban two-door station wagon rear fenders and rear bumper, two-tone paint, special side moldings and chrome wheel coverings. The tailgate was a special piece modified by the Dodge Special Equipment Group
A Desoto version, using Plymouth rear fenders, was built for export.
