I bought a pair of restored mirrors, painted them and installed them. They are perfect except for what ever reason the mirror is not tight so as you drive down the road i will tilt down. Is there anyway to tighten that glass without busting the it?

David, I hope you can "find' a way to do that. tighten the mirror/glass plate. For this very reason, I bought N.O.S. remote mirrors,(driver side only), and had them installed instead. They were very expensive. :frown:

There were no re-pops at that time. I spoke with the platers who do them,(Pauls Chrome plating out of Mars Pennsylvania), and they said it woudnt be the same after plating, the mechanism would be 'loose'. Wonder if someone has figured out a way to do it?

You know. My passenger side mirror used to do that with people shutting the door. I need that mirror for overtaking in this country so it was a pain.

I have a feeling I did something about it. But cannot remember what.

I let her sit in the passanger seat as long as she sits on a towel and doesn't wrinkle the interior.

There is a way t get that mirror to never wander again. First you will need to hire a 2 ton crane. Then fasten the chain around the strongest part of the rear end. Get your wife and/or girlfriend to sit in the seat. Tell the crane driver to keep lifting until the car is hanging completely vertical, but so the door mirrors are easily accessible and the glass is basically parallel to the ground. The person in the car needs to adjust the mirror for your preference so that you can then pour about 500ml of freshly mixed resin into the cavity behind the mirror. This method is quite expensive because the car will need to remain vertical for around 6 -8 hours until the resin sets, and crane drivers get around $75 per hour. But it is worth it as that mirror will never move again.

Thanks golden, I asked my wife to sit next to my girlfriend so I could fix my mirrior. Wife ripped mirror off, guess problem solved. :lol:

Yeah, that would solve it, now all we have to do is get them to remove things we DON'T want....like rust
