1973 Rallye Valve Cover leak

Postby bradburm » 25 Feb 2007 14:24

All,

I am sure that someone has dealt with this issue before. I replaced the stock valve covers on my 340 with chrome ones and have found the drivers side one leaking.

Anything special or any tricks that I should use when I pull the cover and replace with a new gasket.

All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

If it was a cheap one, it may be warped, I would take it off and set it on a table to make sure it sits flat.

Yep. Make sure they are good and flat. Then when installing make sure you tighten all the bolts in an even pattern. And con't over tighten!

I usually glue the gasket to the valve cover with silicon then make sure it has set properly before the valve cover is installed on the engine.
