Well, I recieved my recurved distributor and ECU kit from FBO. Immediatly went into mechanic mode and installed everything in about an hour. Set the timing at 10 BTDC and went for a test drive.
I cautiously listened for detonation and no pinking to be had so, I opened the throttle wide in 2nd gear, at about 5000 RPM the engine began to rev unexpectedly. I thought WTF this seems like the cam kicking in or something. Then I glanced in my rear view mirrior and saw white smoke. One of the rear tires was breaking loose and doing a smoke run at 60 mph. It never did that before. Quite an increase in power compaired to the stock orange box electronic system.
The response is also much quicker however, there is a miss at low RPM's and the idle doesn't seem right. Acts like there is a vacuum leak or maybe I have the secondary stops are set to high. In any case the fuel mixture is not right and the eye burning fumes are still present. Another project.
I do have question is it normal for the engine speed to slow at idle when the PCV valve is plugged? Also how does the breather on the passenger side function? It has a light suction and is basically open to the air filter which would seem to be a vacuum leak.
