Dave there is a guy, I think his last name is Patterson, that runs or used to run in the F.A.S.T. class with a 340 Duster or Demon and he used the old 1968 340 cam, and claimed he tried em all, but ran in the low 12s with that cam. BTW what is the FBO "set-up" is it an electronic box type,(CD), or is it a souped up Chrysler style,(Hall effect), ignition? I dont know what a smooth idle is, the last smooth idle car I drove was in 1979 in a slant six Dart!! :mrgreen:

Those FAST guys cheat!

The lift and duration might be the original spec BUT you look at the cam.

They are custom grinds that are almost square! VERY fast rate of lift but the valve is open wide WAY longer than on a stock cam even though technically the cam spec (advertised duration) is the same.

Hey Eddie, Nice truck!

Here's mine, not alot of extras but a diesal with a good Allison tranny to haul my Arse around. Also has 4x4 for the two mile trip up the dirt road. (only needed in winter though). :wink:

Wow, awesome truck Jon! Those Duramax Diesels are incredible arent they! That Allison is made 40 miles from my home,(allison of Indianapolis), those trannys are BULLETPROOF. That truck you have if electrically modified with the power "boxes" will embarass my challenger! My friend has a two wheel drive GMC and loves it. He has put stacks on it too, yes its a quick truck for sure and makes gobs of torque!! He also gets more than double what my 360 gets 18mpg versus 8 mpg for mine! :tears:

If I see him soon Ill get some pics, its a sharp lookin rig(05). The really only thing I enjoy about my truck is its easy to work on,but very thirsty!! BTW beautiful countryside!

I ordered this back in 1989 when I was still working at the Federal Penitentiary, its the old Direct Connection Walker Evans Baja kit,(discontinued in 1995 or 96 I think. Rancho Leaf springs, Randys ring&pinion axles and Detroit Locker,(4.10) ratio,Borgeson steering shaft, 10 RS 5000s shocks, Chromemoly spreader bar, flanged output shaft,N.P.435 granny four speed, heater,radio,power brakes and steering, everything else is manual.

Yeah Dave 4x4 stuff is really different. Fortunately, I live in an area that accepts 4x4 activities as long as nothing is hurt,(livestock,habitat,ect), and is primarily farm land,(flat), mud bogs,things like that. I used to four wheel quite a bit,(years ago,) but since my back surgery in 95 I havent been. It is quite fun in that you have a feeling of invincibility, and can spin around,throw lots of mud!!Chicks love it!Everyone usually gets drunk and then the four wheeling really begins. I would not however take my "newer" Rig in the mud,it costs more than my home! Heck all my vehicles cost more than my home!I live in a dump! My home needs lots of work. This is my Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel 4x4,6-speed, High/output,SLT+. When I retired from the Prison System this is my retirement money,(all of it), yes cars and trucks are addictive! THE biggest performance craze to hit this area in the last thirty years besides muscle cars are the Turbo Diesel Heavy duty trucks Dave. You can take Jons Duramax Diesel, my Cummins or a Ford Powerstroke and "plug" in an electronic module,(dozens of companies), and boost your H.P. an incredible 50-200% over stock! There are 7000 lb. Diesels roaming the streets that can click off sub 11 second Qrtrs.!!!!!This would humiliate my R/T!! Mine is all stock and stayin that way!!Too many money pits now Bro!

No but I attend most of their events, spitfire, and respect all of their incredible racers and the friendliest group of people you will ever meet. What those dudes can do with their rigs is phenomenol!!! After I get this Damn credit card paid down a little I will join. Its right up my "alley" fast, furious,Heavy Metal Mayhem!!I heard some of those Diesels are in the 10.00+ second/Quarter mile times!! Thats unbelievable and would humble any muscle car. We have the Scheid Diesel pull-off every year at the fairgrounds and have been numerous times! one Dodge this year made 685 H.P. and pulled down 1300+ Lb.Ft. Tq.!! This was a street legal beast!

Sorry spifire, I was thinking Diesel Hotrod Association, and the National Diesel Racing Associaton. The Diesel Truck Register? No I am not a member yet. I have been to the diesel websites such as Turbo Diesel register,(fee required). Yesterday, I went to start my CTD and the batteries were low, it requires two, this set me back 180.00 bucks!I bought em at the Dodge dealership. Now I am ready for winter.Are you a diesel head spifire,(I am). :mrgreen:

YES, I registered Spitfire! It says however I could not post until activation but they gave me an activation # which I entered. I guess I will have to wait! The only MoPar website I wont go to is MoParts. To childlike and many many chevy and ford enthusiasts,(nothin wrong with that), I dont get it? Is that board on manual activation?

I have had to put this board on manual activation before when it started getting hit by spammers. It is on auto now but i am always ready to switch back to manual. It is a PTA but what can you do?

But if their board is on auto activation then it may be you wrote your email address wrong. It happens a lot on here.

Yes, same here Dave. MCG, is the only one I recieve. I too have to pay some debt off first which really sucks cause I used to subscribe to them ALL, including the recently discontinued Chrysler Heritage,(museum), magazine which really upset me. I have been "developing" a keen interest in the early Dodge Bros. stuff and Walter Percy Chrysler cars.(I am approaching geezerhood) The period between 1914-1928 is particularly interesting to me. Oh and the 1945-1960 Dodge Civilian PowerWagons.The greatest Truck ever BUILT!!

Well the shop called, I get my car back next week and its 9 degrees F outside! Bitter cold! I dont do cold at all, heat is another story! The R/T goes straight into my garage/shop where it will slumber until a warm day arrives months and months away...No testing, no street confrontations with my neighbors Chevelle SS454, damn I hate winter..,,!! :tears:

Man that is cold.

I don't mind the cold at all down to 32F. It never gets much colder than 20F where I live these days. If that.
In the summer it rarely gets above 85F and on the odd occasion 89F. But at that heat I have problems with it! I am a hairy Northerner and those temps really take it out of me.

On Sunday I am going to the Maldives in the Indian Ocean for a week. I am worried about the heat and the sun. I think it will be around 90F. :s008:

I am taking the highest factor sun cream I can find! :blushes:

I could't say no at the price. It was a "last minute" booking and was about half price. :mrgreen:

Just checked the weather at Male (the island where the airstrip is). It is winter there so it is only going to be 84F during the day and 75F at night. A few rain showers are predicted for mid-week. The island we are on is a 45min seaplane ride north of there so the weather might be a bit different?

That should keep me cool enough to enjoy it. :biggrin:

Can you predict this to all of your neighbours, friends, the whole UK...? I keep seeing all those 'red baked' people from the UK on vacation every year...they never learn it though :mrgreen:

The weather in the UK is even worse then over here. Colder and more rain. Man...last year I was at the Main event @ Santa Pod (end of may) and it was a &#%$@ 7* Celsius...brrr...

Its not that bad here,(Indiana,USA), it used to be! Average temp. was in the low 30s to twentys by Jan. with about a foot of snow average. Now it goes from the 50s to the 30s, with only 8 inches total for the year! Global Warming? I have two 4x4 Dodge trucks and a Jeep 4x4 and one car!Other than the Challenger my vehicles are suited for extreme weather that will probably never come back. I do know that the folks that buy snowmobiles and ski-runners around here have only a few days of winter wonderland unless they want to go north to Michigan.
