Dip Stick length

Postby matt » 27 Sep 2006 14:41

Hey everyone, I have a 70 challenger with 440, blew the motor over the summer and jsut got it back form being rebuilt. I had a bigger oil pan put on the motor, and I was adding Oil to it. I began to worry after adding 11 quarts of oil and nohting readig in the dip stick. I have no idea if the dip stick or the dip stick tube is wrong. Can some one please measure the length of there dip stick, and dip stick tube- (from top to block) for me. This would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Matt

I can check mine easily for you.

But remembering to do it is the hard bit. :s022: :s023:

Dipstick tube is 16.25 inches from entering block to top of tube in straight line. The tube however would be actually longer if straightened out.

The dipstick itself is 22.5 inches from the tip to the raised shoulder that seals against the top of the tube.
