Scandinavian Nats 2006, Sweden

Postby Joakim » 10 Jun 2006 20:21

What a perfect day. The sun was shining and me and friend drove the 100 km from Stockholm south to Jogersö, Oxelösund in his Dodge Charger 69.

This is what we saw! Enjoy!

All together there was a hundred or so Mopars. Yes, I could have taken more photos, I missed to take pictures on the ´72 Coronet Station Wagon and on the AMX´s and the 300´s and the Demons and Darts and The Li´l Red Express. But who wants to see Mopar Meet through a camera lense? Not me! Once again, Enjoy!

Great pic´s, Joakim. Thanks!

Sad that I missed you, or did I? :? It was the third year in a row that I was there as a seller. Maybe you bought something from me? I think I was the only seller of old Mopar mags and Hot Rod Magazines and so on.
At least I had the pleasure to speak with the MB-members Chrippa and Rockanimal.

Below are what I have choosen to call "Right-front-fender-snap-shots-from-Oxelösund"

Cheers
Chris

Enough engine for an a-body? The owner describes the driving feeling as horrible! (You can interpret that as you want)

That French Challenger was one of my favorites. No, I didn´t buy any magazines. I was more into renewing my wardrobe with a t-shirt.

What makes you think it was built in France? Sold new in France, that's for sure, but built? Do you have a picture of the VIN tag? Is the VIN tag on the dashboard a partial one (only the last 8 digits)? That would be a tell-tale sign of French assembly.

It's most likely a Hamtramck car, ordered by Simca and sold new in France. I'lltry to get some info about it (if the VIN is on the Simca registry, which should be the case).

If you have any more pics of that one, I'm interested.

I couldn't make it to go there this summer. I have been there twice before, but had other plans this last weekend. Nice pics, both of you. I will be in Rättvik / Siljan Mopar Meet / Mopars at the strip in the beginning of August. A lot of my friends will also be there. I've heard only good things about the Classic Car Week in Rättvik so I look forward to this happening.

I checked with a member of my club, this French Challenger is part of a 24 car order from Simca - all serial numbers follow each other. That order was cancelled by Simca (too late apparently) and the cars were delivered nonetheless (I know of a few cars in that list). The car may or may not have been sold new in France (could have been redirected to a dealer in another European country). There's no way to tell whether it was sold in France since the order for those cars were cancelled (ottherwise the town and dealer name are available).

Is there any chance to contact the owner, just to see if he knows about the history of his car or the previous owners/Country?

That car was imported to Sweden in April 1977, I don't know from where. Todays owner is no. 7 and I can find the three last.
