Will a 1970 challenger bumper bolt onto a 72, and are there any differences in the bumper, like in general shape and how it looks compared to a 72? I tried looking at pictures off google but they're no good. Thanks.

The frame extensions are the same as far as I know..... a 72 setup was bolted to my 70 R/T SE when I got it. I do not believe the 70 bumper will work with the 72 brackets and reinforcement so I think you will need a 70 bumper and the four 70 brackets (2L and 2R that bolt together before being mounted to the frame extension) for everything to work.

You will probably have to modify the brakets by slotting them, so you can slide the bumber in closer to the car.

I was planning on cutting the brackets and bringing them in anyways, so it would look a bit better, but I wasnt sure if the bumpers retained the same shape all around.

I think the bumper itself is the same shape except the 70-71 bumpers didn't have slots for the jack.

Shape wise, the 70 thru 74 bumpers are all the same. In 1973 and 1974 the bumper brackets are longer. in those 2 years, you would need a filler because the bumpers are further away from the body.

Thanks for the help, that was what I needed to know. I noticed that my 72 Challenger front bumper stuck out much further than other Challenger bumpers that I had seen pictures of, and I had decided to recess the bumper back against the car. Unfortunately, the people who owned the car before me messed things up pretty bad. They cut a hole for a sunroof in the car with a sawzall, tried to tow the car by the front valance and tore it to pieces, and broke the front bumper in half and then welded it back together, so I'm trying to piece together what things were supposed to be like and what has been modified by those idiots.
