Wide moldings

Postby stones » 23 Mar 2006 19:41

Hi boys, my 71 R/T is a factory wide hood molding car, they have later been replaced by regular moldings after an accident but will come back during restoration, i have been told this is a extremely rare option is this correct? any numbers anyone?

Guessing time! :s004: Not as rare as one might expect. I have seen a number of them through the years. At least 3-4% of the cars, not less than that. How does that sound? :|

I asked a friend of me about this molding some time ago now and he couldn't find anything about it in his books. He found it very strange. Then I almost happen to convince him that this molding was styling you could buy from Eiker Motorshop in the 80ies. Just like the wide wheel lip molding for the (rusted) arches of Mercedes-Benz 123s and 124s and Granadas. :P

(For info: Eiker Motorshop is a well known dealer of car styling and tires in Norway.)

Wide moldings..

He he these parts is absolutely no Eiker parts, i have been told by an mopar expert that these moldings is also known as Spring Special option.
I think they only came from the factory in late 71 no sooner, not later and that fits fine .
Mine is produced in 3week of june (Hamtramck)

I an old thread ( http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... =3731#3731 ) I had the idea that this is the M28 Wide grille surround moulding, but I donĀ“t know if that is correct or not.

It certainly is very welcome to Sweden! A very nice car. Both shaker hood and a drop top, can it get any better than that? I have not seen it here but I sure would like that. :s007:
