2006 Challenger

Postby 72challenger3406pk » 20 Feb 2006 6:36

Hi All,
I took this at the Chicago Auto Show. The light that is around the tail lights looks like it is neon and on all the time. The car also won the crowd vote for the most popular concept car at the show. The Camero won the catogory of, "Car I'd most like to see in my driveway". I have some pictures of the underside, (suspension, exhaust, etc.) I can post if anybody wants to see them.

There's gonna be some serious muffler scraping going on when the car finally sees road duty.

I'd still have one though...

It is indeed quite a bit bigger than "our" Challengers.

6 inches longer in the wheelbase.
6.5 inches longer in the body.
2.5 inches wider.
6 inches taller.
Probably be about the same weight or up to 200lbs heavier.

This is a very big car.

A V6 version should be available for around $23,000 in todays money and the Hemi version for around $7,000 more.

If they had any sense they should also produce a smaller lighter, cheaper, Barracuda version.

I went to the alignment shop yesterday and the manager there said his brother has one on order. $38,000 with the 425 hp motor and 6 speed.
B.S. or true  ?????

If I was a car dealer I would take his money and put it in a savings account. Then if I couldn't get one or Chrysler never make them I would just give him his money back. Without the interest of course.

That could be what has happened. Or it could just be BS. :D

Yes, that could happen as some salesman can be that way. I would think that the deposit would be refundable until confirmation of production.

It is kind of exciting to think that the possiblility of ordering a new Challenger (the way you want it) may be a reality.

I will check with the local dealers to see if there is any truth to this possibility. :)

OK guy's,

The local dealers in my area say that the interest in the new Challenger is off the charts.
The most informed salesman that I talked to said, that they don't have a buyers list going on the car at this time. He thought that this fall the official release might happen. He is hoping the price would be under $50,000. :|

The Charger as compairison with the 425 hp Hemi is going for $43,000 (loaded) before taxes. That would be the same range for the Challenger if you think about it. There were only 1500 CHARGERS with the Hemi (according to him) available this year so that may be the reason for the high price. And people are waiting in line for them.

Well...my wife has already informed me that when it's released...she wants one.
I told her we might have to trade our '04 Crew Cab Ram in on it since my Challenger isn't going anywhere.lol.
Then again...might just bite the bullet...buy her one,and keep the Ram.
Why not have 3 Mopars in the garage?lol. The more the merrier.
