Nice...really nice.

And what about that "photoshop" again?
Or did they photoshop the video too?

Although the car does run and drive, none of this stuff is functional.

Told you so - told you so :s023:

Me likey! They seem to have gone to a LOT of effort to get as many design nods to the original cars as they could. Much nicer than the Charger/ 300C revamps.

What's "Dimeler- Chrysler" though?

Yeah I noticed the funny way they pronounced that too. Maybe the word Daimler sticks in their throats?

SORRY  for adding chebby pic´s on this board, but it is never wrong (?) to keep an eye on the competition. Here are a couple of pic´s on the new Camaro. The beginning of a new Muscle Car war? (Pic´s from http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... /601100375 )

I like the look. Soooo much better than the charger. I heard it won't even be out till 2009 if they go thru with it. The LX platform is so hot right now the assembly in Brampton has no plans to add another line unless one of the cars in the line stop selling and that is not likely to happen. Like the original the challenger will be out late again. Vehicles using the LX platform are the Chrysler 300 sedan, Dodge Magnum station wagon and the 2006 Dodge Charger sedan. I've posted a few pics from the Detroit show this week end.

You can see a short glimpse of the Challenger presentation (web tv) at http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... ry=AUTO04# . Then choose "Auto Show Multimedia" down to the right and after that "Chrysler highlights: Imperial, Challenger".

THE DODGE CHALLENGER IS BACK!

I'm just praying now that they don't 'deface' the Hemi option in the same way they did in the new 300 cars. Apparently, while driving sedately round town, the engine will only run on FOUR CYLINDERS!

Oh the horror......

If it runs at all. DC are having a lot of trouble with the new hemi powered vehicles cutting out for no reason. Mainly the trucks. Probably a computer fault but they are not admitting to it yet.

The instruments are probably just photoshop items for now (they were pretty lousy in the first set of pics that was released, and I'm wondering where they intend to put the mirror controls), but they don't look that good (bright gray plastic in a black interior :s021: ).

The stereo looks horrible, but since it seems to be embedded with the AC controls, it won't be replaceable (by, say, a set of oil pressure and water temperature gauges, and maybe a WBO2 gauge too). But maybe the so-called 'Telemetry' screen on the left will provide useful and reliable informations?
The so-called 'pistol-grip' stick is downright horrible, too. But maybe that's just the pictures. Let's just hope the center armrest doesn't get in the way of shifting. The wheel looks OK, and the cruise controls don't look too intrusive. Maybe I'm making a wild guess here, but I'll wage that there's verry little storage space too...

What I had in mind was only the layout of the gauges, that is gauges with one big gauge to the left and three small gauges to the right. I find it a bit unusual. I can´t remember having seen this setup in any other car.

Bright, grey plastic that is supposed to look like aluminium or something, often looks awful in my eyes. Many manufacturers seems to like this kind of cheap materials, but that is just the way it often looks, CHEAP!

The large gauge to the left would have been a tach if I had choosen it myself. A small digital gauge inside the tach would be enough to show the speed. I think some motorcycle gauges looks that way.

The gauge to the right looks quite useless as it looks in the pic´s. Barely readable, I would say.

How about having something similar to a power key, but instead of limiting max hp, it could be used to have a non-4banger-mode instead.... :s003: Just to avoid embarrassing situations.... Why haven´t anyone come up with this idea before, or have they? :?

(With a power key, it is possible to limit the max hp, but you already knew that, right?)

Who can complain about this?

Postby Rizrtse » 13 Jan 2006 0:44

What a car..unfortunately its just that - 1 car. They need to put this baby into production!!!! I read on a site that the designer is contemplating hood pins, a new retro gas cap like the 70 had, and maybe a redesign on the handles. I agree with the previous post that the rear tailights section is a bit dull and needs something other than a flat panel. I also would love to see the exhaust "cut - into" to lower body panel like the Acura does on their TL model....but again, who can complain if this is the final package....maybe the designer hits this site when he does his research! Any solution would be better than reducing the next- gen Challenger to a 'potter round town 4- banger'.. It's like sending Jimi Hendrix onstage with a ukelele. :tears:

I think this new Challenger looks great and will likely do what I can to get one when released.. What are your thoughts on how the release of this car will effect the value of our original 70-74s? I was wondering how I would feel driving home in my 71 past a dealership with 20 of these parked out front. I kinda dug the uniqueness and timeless awesomeness of our originals. Sorry for being selfish…..

2006 Challenger

Postby neuralyser » 17 Jan 2006 10:25

I agree with the comment about cutting in the exhaust tips to the rear valance..just what I was thinking, not only because it's what our cars have got, but because it helps to slim down the overall look.
I think this car is pretty damn good, but it would help to address some of the bulk, for example if you look straight on at the front to my mind there is too much bodywork below the headlights...is this due to not having the whole effect broken up by a nice chrome bumper ?
It's just crying out for tiny bits of trimming down..

2010 Challenger

Postby David » 17 Jan 2006 22:28

As great as the beinnings of this car look, by the time 2010 rolles around, we are probably looking at the $40+ price range for the Hemi. I'll start saving today.

Challenger buff bares it all inside auto show - Woman sneaks in late to pose nude atop the new Dodge concept car

John Wisely / The Detroit News

DETROIT -- Forget Desperate Housewives, the sexiest display at the Auto Show may have been one that started long after the doors were locked.

Show officials are trying to learn who sneaked a tipsy blond woman onto the Cobo Center show floor about 2:30 a.m. Monday to pose nude atop the new Dodge Challenger.

"We heard they were all over the Challenger," said Jason Vines, vice president of communications for the Chrysler Group, which earlier brought in the very-clothed actress Eva Longoria to pose with its exhibit. "Obviously, this car is a magnet. We want people to love these cars but not in that way."

Workers said security guards found the woman posing while more than a dozen others gawked and snapped photos with camera phones. Cobo Director Glenn Blanton said the city is investigating.

"If employees were involved, there will be discipline," he said.

Show officials are taking the security breach seriously. "The only people who are supposed to be on the floor at that time are people who are working," said Rod Alberts of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, which sponsors the show. "We want to get to the bottom of this and make sure it doesn't happen again."

There are rumours circulating that the girl on the Challenger was drugged, which is neither big nor clever (if true).

'Course it could all be part of a publicity spin for the new car.....

"A woman at the center of rumors she posed naked after hours at the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall said she did not undress.

"I was never naked. I was never on top of the car," said the woman, who was only identified as "Danielle."

Rumors began circulating last week of a woman who posed nude atop the Dodge Challenger concept car after employees let her inside, Local 4 reported. Rumors continue to circulate that photos of the woman were taken and posted on the Internet. There were also reports that the woman may have been drugged before the incident occurred, according to the station's reports.

Danielle said she was at the Auto Show, but was wearing "a mini-skirt, a sheer shirt, a sweater dress, heels."

Danielle met several men who worked at the Auto Show while at the Anchor Bar located near Cobo Hall, Local 4 reported. She said the men asked her if she wanted to see the cars, so she went to Cobo Hall.

The woman said she did see the Dodge Challenger concept car, but she only sat inside the vehicle and looked at the interior.

"It was blown completely out of proportion after I started seeing it on the news," said Danielle.

Attorney Charlie Langton said, "It probably is a story just because when you talk about nudity, you talk about the Auto Show, cars and sex, I guess, go together. But when you really boil it down to the real basics of it, there's just really not much there."

No legal action is planned, Local 4 reported. Danielle said she hopes the employees who let her into the show are not fired, the station reported.

Danielle said she does not want the rumors to turn her into a modern-day Tawny Kitaen, who is infamous for posing on the hood of a car in a Whitesnake music video in the 1980s, Local 4 reported."

Sorry fellas, just a load of hype.
