Electronic Exhaust Dumps Info?

Hey guyz.

I'm trying to look into installing some electronic exhaust dumps directly after my headers. Just for fun! Anyways, can't seem to find any information in theis regards - I thought there would be an actually kit that could be easily installed??

Does anyone ahve any information about doing this? Perhaps you've done it?

Always thought about it, and always wondered about one thing : how long can the solenoid/motor stand the heat from the exhaust pipes?

I'm wondering if a 1/4" isolator could be (home)made for that application (from the same composite material usually used for carb adapters)

It would still get hot with an insulator as it is in direct contact with the exhaust gasses. It is expensive stuff. But looks to be well made from good materials.

Those old cable operated cast iron(?) ones you used to see for sale really sucked. They leaked all the time and then usually jammed open or closed.

Last time I was at the strip, a fellow with a 69 camaro had them and said he loved them. Unfortunately he was a total jack ass and as I continued to ask questions he started thinking he was a bit too cool. You know the type. Some people piss me off. Anyways, I left the conversation at that, resulting in no new info. I'm gonna call around to a few people.

I know how that goes with the "cool" people. ( I live here in California).
Never the less, that's a great idea to be able to electronically open-em up on the country roads. Heck maybe even in town for a quickey.

When I was a kid I used to take my honey upto lookout point. After a few, it was under the Challenger to un-cork the headers and Woo the other partakers of whatever :lol:

. It was a lot of work to perform exhaust surgery under a car with 6" of ground clearance in pitch black! It seem that it was worth the effort back then. :s021:

As Dave said a reliable system would be the hot ticket. :thumbsup:

Hope that you find a product reasonable on both price and installation.

I'll buy one. Oh.... guess I'll need Two.

That one looks basically the same except for the gearbox driving the butterfly from the motor.

The one on the summit web site looks to me like it might be using a lower gear to drive it. That would be an advantage as more torque is available and the motor would need less current.

The other one includes the tubing though.
