throttle linkage

does anyone have a picture of the throttle linkage setup on a small block engine with a 727 transmision in combination with an edelbrock carburator?

thanks !

The Edelbrock carb is just the same as the carter the engine probably left the factory with. However I am not sure you get all the bits you need from Edelbrock and you have to use some of the stock parts with the carb.

It should end up connected just as the original carb was though so it should look like one of the examples below depending on which type of kickdown linkage you have.

Edelbrock with 727

Postby Charlie Backes » 19 Jun 2005 3:38

I am changing carbs (and manifold) from a Holley 2bbl to the Edelbrock 1406 on my 70 Challenger and it looks to me that the throttle/trans linkage bracket for the 2 bbl is too far inboard and aft to match up with the new 4 bbl. I do not know if there is a different bracket for the 4 barrel from the factory but I hope to find out soon. Otherwise it looks like the 2 bbl bracket will have to be modified. Maybe someone can provide us with a photo of an original factory 4bbl setup? Also, do you know if a spacer is recommended under the new carb for the square bore intake?

same sort of problem with mine, which has been swapped from 2bbl to 4bbl Edelbrock. The old 2bbl linkage does work but I have a problem with correct kickdown setup and the throttle cable clamp has been "manufactured" poorly on my set up (so it flexes easily). The trans throttle rod is not squarely lined up and also interferes with underside of the air filter case.
I`m now thinking of new throttle cable brackets and a cable kickdown "Lockar" setup.
