Fuel Vent/vapor Lines

Postby 826 » 06 May 2005 20:39

I have a question about vapor lines... I have a 1971 and I am putting the vapor separator on the car. I have a sending unit with a 1/4" fitting and I was planning on running a line from the vapor separator to the sending unit.

My question is that on the car there is currently a single 1/4" line that goes from the top of the fuel filler tube (in the trunk) to the 1/4" line on the sending unit. Anyone know where should I plumb that line? Also does anyone have a schematic of the lines?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

From the 1971 service manual:
(Hope it helps!)

Pictures are from a '70 with California Emissions, the only difference to a '71 is the line shield is one piece versus two pieces.

I don´t think the fuel filler tube of yours ( It looks like the one on the following pic, right?: http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... 9184#19184 ) originally came on 1971 Challengers. At least, that is what I have learned from reading ebay ads. Maybe you already are aware of that? I don´t know if you are building a resto car or not?
