M08 is the code for the Challenger Rallye simulated front fender louvers - it's not a delete code in this case. J54 is the Sport Hood code for the Rallye hood. The 024 could be an axle assembly build code, but only on a Lynch Road tag. An inspection mark on the tag would never appear to be part of the original coding so the 024 is really a matter for further research.

I have not looked at a lot of them, but the 1974 Hamtramck tags I have seen so far have three digits afther the L1 or L2. They vary quite a bit, I would like to know what it means too.

Could the 024 mean that their is only 24 days left of production on the
challenger?. I have heard that production stoped sometime in April.Does
anybody have a plant sequential number past 354942 (March 19,1974)?
Does anybody have a 1974 challenger from the L.A. plant? All the fender
tags that i have from 1974 is from the Hamtramck plant.

Hey Mike,
LA made E-bodies in 1970 only. The last three digits on the tag go up and down, so I do not think it had anything to do with how many days of production were left.

The latest VIN I have on file so far for a 1974 Challenger ends in 397584.

Hey Mike,
I do not have the tag codes for that one. It is somewhere between 412 and 424 though based on cars I have on file around it.
