Is it still OK to answer on here, or should I go look elsewhere ? Anyway here goes.
Thats an old solid flat tappet grind by Comp, used to be in the Drag section, 275/275 @ .050", .585/585 lift, 108 lobe seperation.
It was a competitor to the old Mopar .590" pn 4120663? I think ? and Crane's old 560/580 ?
Comp R&D 'ed 3 cams for Mopars old direct connection program in the late 70's that resulted in the 3 Mopar Pn #'s 4120559, 4120661 & 4120663, which respectively were the .528", .557" and .590" flat tappet series. Comp then released their own "slightly changed" competitor versions for sale, hence that .585" designation on a 108 L.S. versuses the mopar .590"s agressive 106 LS.
ENOUGH HISTORY !
Anyways, that cam was a staple we used for about 10 yrs on budget style bracket motors up to around 600 HP, iron head motors, similar to what you described, using ly rods and that ballpark C.R.
Without knowing your actual head flow numbers, but using your description, I'll guess it should be good for 585 Hp.
How high is your dome on the pistons ? If it is an actual high dome 12:1 C.R., install that cam @ 104 above 2000 ft elevation, no later, and keep it to 6500 rpm shift point. Much past that and you'll start to really hammer #4 maincap with the iron heads cause the plug placement impedes a good flamefront propagation, fuel wash makes it hard to fire, similar effect to a detonation and presto #4 rattles.
It'll be a great little performer, I think you'll like it.
