H 51 coded HEMI!

Postby Joakim » 15 Nov 2004 20:02

On E-bay ther is a HEMI R/T for sale. As far as I know no Hemi Challengers were built with the code "H 51". Is the car one of one or one of none?

Nice car. :D It is a pity that they didnĀ“t keep the 440" on a collectible car like this (my opinion). Not very often that I prefer a 440" instead of the elephant. :P

They go on about it being "UNIQUE" when in fact there is nothing unique about it I can see except for what looks like a white painted hood treatment instead of the black decal. The "UNIQUE" yellow paint with white bee stripe is just a $14 1970 option.

$65.000 as a starting bid for non # matching... phew. Sounds like "I bought a darn expensive Challenger and all I got was a $14 paint job" to me

I thought that the Dealer Demo (Y13) option code would classify it as a collectible car, but maybe I was wrong!?
(Does this code add value to a car or not? )

Not for me it don't. It is an 'interesting' feature of the car but not something that should really effect the price very much. Dealer Demos usually came well optioned which makes them the ones to get if you want all the options.
If I was looking for a Challenger I would be looking more at originality and condition rather than counting up the options.
