MPP Ignition Conv. Kits question

Postby Kevin » 20 Oct 2004 15:09

I understand that the MPP electronic ignition conversion kits come with either an orange or a silver box? If this is true, what is the difference (advantages/disadvantages)? Anyone?

Orange box is fine for street use. Chrome box is for racing. Some people use these on the street too but I seem to remember when I looked into it I decided it was not a good idea or even pointless (pun intended) for some reason or another. I can't remember now.

If I had to guess I think it was something to do with the quality of the spark being better suited for WOT and high RPM use rather than normal street part throttle lower RPM use.

You are better off using an MSD or Accel ignition unit.

Have a good read of the old stuff in the Electrical section. I did quite a lot on ignition stystems way back when.
