Don't remember saying anything like that? Or maybe I said it was not that important in some cars? (if you have a rare hemi car who cares if it has a non matching trans?) and to be honest most people NEVER check the number on the trans.
Anyway. For sure you need a VIN on the trans for the car to be "numbers matching".
In fact you need the full VIN on the dashpad and door sticker as well as the last 8 digits of the VIN on the engine, trans, cowl and radiator support for the car to be truely called "Numbers Matching".

Hope the new converter does what you want it to Steve. Don't forget a NEW input shaft seal before you bolt the trans up.
