Ignition Lock Replacement

Postby Todd71 » 03 Oct 2004 18:46

Saw the message below on the ignition switch- so this may be a similar situation. I had the tumblers in my lock get jammed up (ugly story) and now have to replace the lock. I can get the key in but cannot turn it at all. My question is do I need to pull the column or can I pull the lock somehow?

I think you take the wheel off and then have to pull the 'coffee can' under it off (with a suitable or home made puller).

NEVER hammer anything on the steering column. It has many collapsable parts that will get damaged.
