This has been covered before on here. Have a look through the posts in this section.

But the short answer is YES and lots of people do it.

If you want a grille you might have to look hard.

There was a "New Old Stock" grille on ebay a few weeks ago. I don't think it sold so maybe if you contacted the seller.....

Hey. I did this swap. Look around - and you'll find a decent grill for a good price ($100). Then restore it yourself. Drill out the rivets, strip the paint, spend some quality time with your buffer, repaint, assemble. It will save you hundreds of $'s. Most important thing is for most of the tabs to remain, as your going to loose some support/strength since you don't have 70-71 fenders. (this means your headlight supports are not attached to your fenders. Although you could tack them there I suppose.) These give you half of your support needed. Anyways...

At the least, you require the following:

• Head lamp supports (Right and left. I believe you can use 70 or 71's)
• Lamp buckets (these attach to the head lamp support - You can salvage the ones out of you 72-74 grill - they work fine)
• 70 Grill
• 70 Headlight buckets
• 70 Grill support (attached to grill and hood latch support) Important part - as I wouldn't want to try and fabricate something.
• The hood latch support seems to be the same but I swithed mine to a 70 anyways.
• Your horns will mount elsewhere of course but who really cares - it's a clone!

I test fit mine last weekend, as my car is going in for paint shortly. A few holes need to be drilled in the inner part of the fenders for grill support. Also, support brackets need to be made for the Head lamp supports. Once you have the parts it all makes sense and fits together.

Also switch to 70 bumper brackets to bring those bumpers in. With the 70 grill, it will look even worse.

This conversion is soooooo worth it. the 70 grill is my favorite grill. It has a refined appearance which holds up to todays easthetics. As well, it's a very aggresive design. I started converting the tail light panel last weekend. This is a very easy swap - drill out spot welds with a spot weld cutter, grind down - weld in, going from end to end. Always wanted a 70 but I'm not paying rediculious prices for one. Once done, I won't feel guilty for beating on it.

If I can help in any other way - please ask - I'd love to help.

see ya!
