Well despite everyones advice, I made the plunge and bought a 440 and 727 from the junk yard. I have a machine shop to build the short block and port the heads after I pull everything apart. We will need to bump up the pistons becuase the 440 is out of a 78 wagon with low compression. The 727 has no reverse but was the only one I could find. Another project. My question is this. I know I will need to swap motor mounts in my small block (318) challenger and can find big block mounts at Summitt for $25. I look in year one and it has motor mounts made for a swap at $128 each and says you don't need to change the K frame. Do I need these special motor mounts or will the stock mounts made for a big block in a Challenger work fine?
Thanks
Gary
