I think I know why you are asking this.

Is it because Year One list a badge for the 71 Charger but not for the 70 Challenger?

I have had a look at the picture of the Charger emblem on the Year One site and compared it to a very poor b&w photo I have in an old magazine (yeah I remembered where I had seen it! ).

The result is I cannot see a difference at all. It would make sense for Dodge to use the same badge.

Of course we cannot always rely on Dodge to do the sensable thing can we!

But unless someone out there knows different I think they are the same. (Fingers crossed)

Here is what Year One call a 1971 Charger SE badge.

I know there are some Challenger SE owners here on the message board. Can you guys compare how yours looks to this?

Thanks.

Looks like they are the same after all (unless there is a misprint in Paul Herds "Interchange" book). He claims that the 70 Challenger SE and the 71 Charger SE use the same part number: 3446801 (SE medallion on roof sail panels). Strange that Year One has missed this fact.

I can see a difference, a great big screw through the centre!
Here's mine taken 5 minutes ago.

I´m pretty sure that they used the same, I have looked everywhere for a couple and have found reproductions for both Challenger & Charger on Jacks Autoparts: they look the same. Year One only have, as Dave said, for Charger and yes, that´s strange! But most importantly I have looked at old pictures and compared and I don´t see a difference at all! Some very reliable Mopar friends of mine don´t see a difference either BUT nobody are 100% sure! The only thing I´m sure of is that reproductions are painted red, white and blue and that I have a couple of originals on the way home right now, :D ! If anyone here does happen to have a Charger SE too with an original emblem, post a picture plus mesurements and I´ll do the same when I get my emblems.

Thanks for the input guys! Can we agree upon that:

1) Both emblems look very similar IF you don´t look VERY closely.
2) One has got a hole through the centre, the other miss this hole.
3) The red/white/blue part is either made of plastic OR is simply painted!

This is what I think (´70 Challengers only):
NOS: If you prefer NOS, you shall look for an emblem WITH a hole in the middle.
The red/white/blue part is made of plastic on the NOS emblems.

REPRO: If you prefer repro, you shall look for an emblem WITHOUT a hole in the middle.
The red/white/blue part is painted.

....but, as stated earlier, both emblems look very similar IF you don´t look VERY closely.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, please!

I don´t think it´s as easy as tell the difference with the hole in the middle! The ones I just bought is original parts (a little worn as you can see, for example a couple of the the plastic parts are missing), and they don´t have the hole in the middle. Partnumber 42989 and then 3444937. So there´s a difference at least in the numbers. I´m not sure if they come from a Challenger or a Charger though...

I agree with you Robert. The 1970 factory Challenger manual shows the SE emblem without the centre screw.

Just found out that my SE-emblems (pictured above, without a hole) are from a Challenger.
