Does anybody know of any instance where a trans leak will cure itself? I drove 10 miles back home, checked again and it's still not losing any fluid.

I noticed I was losing transmission fluid last weekend. It was dripping down from the general vicinity of the trans. I parked the car over a pit last night, fired up and had a good look underneath with a spot lamp. Nothing. Not a drip. I let the engine run up hot, rowed through the gears, got back underneath, still nothing. I checked the fluid level, which was fine. The brakes and steering are working fine too.
Does anybody know of any instance where a trans leak will cure itself? I drove 10 miles back home, checked again and it's still not losing any fluid.

If the level is fine now after loosing some it must have been too full I guess?
If it is too full the fluid can foam. If it foams it might climb up the filler tube or the air vent above the pump and out?
Just a guess. I don't know if that is even possible but is the only thing I can thing of.

Sounds very plausible to me Dave. I was doing a couple of hard launches to see what my new tyres were like just before I noticed the leak. The engine and trans were getting pretty hot. I'm hoping this is what happened, I bloody hate having to fix trans leaks. Last time I ended up wedged under the car wearing naught but a binliner, and coated head to toe in transmission fluid.
I'll keep a close eye on it and see what happens.

It's scarily true too. I think Duncan saw me (he still talks to me though 
).
It was at the Classic American at Stratford a couple of years back. After two runs, they pulled me off the track because I was losing oil. It looked like the gasket had gone on the oil pan. With no trolley jack, the only way I could change it was to strip down, poke my head and arms through a binliner, , slide under the car with a spanner and let the whole lot drop on me. This was in the pits in broad daylight. Nobody's ever mentioned it to me. They probably thought it was Moparkev
