It is the cheaper 'glass one.

It needs a little work to be perfect but it is not too bad.

Nothing wrong will fibre glass. I am sure it will look very good on your car.

I ask myself if I also shall have a rear spoiler on my car. From the beginning I had planned to use the flat hood in combination with a spoiler set, creating somewhat a tough euro-style.... (don´t laugh....) The plans changed all of a sudden when I found a cheap R/T-hood for sale. A change for the better I guess.

I like to keep my Challenger as clean as possible without too much fuzz. On the other hand I think that the spoiler kit gives the car a tough and more aggressive look. The black spoilers will also be a contrast to the red body/red interior (spoilers and vinyl top will be black, if I choose to use spoilers). I like the black stripe on the R/T-hood but I think I will keep the hood all red, at least at the beginning.

How were your thoughts behind the choice of adding the spoiler kit? Do you think a Challenger will look OK with just one of the spoilers or is it a must to have them both, if you choose the spoiler route?

(I already have the front chin spoilers laying on the shelf.)

Christer. I not only like the look of the T/A spoilers but they are actually functional to a small degree.

The aerodynamics of the Challenger are terrible.

These spoilers are not the complete answer but they will help a little to cut down on drag and also create more air pressure in front of the lower part of the radiator.
I wanted to improve airflow into the radiator and the front spoilers are part of that plan.

Not sure if the rear spoiler is very effective or not but it can't hurt. I couldn't fit a front spoiler without also fitting a rear.

But if I had not been concerned about cooling I might have considered fitting a rear without a front.

Before and after pics of the door panel inserts.

Some Texan had done a bit of DIY with the wood. I think the carbon looks smarter and more in keeping with a performance theme.

i heard studies on the rear wing, it was on a mustang, at 120 mph those inverted wings supposidly put down alot of down force, i have one ,but i would like to do some sort of front air dam with a little channel for the cooling but i would like to attach it with zeus fasteners for track use and the remove it for street, ifeel it will keep the air from going under the car as that what i feel the most at 100 mph, this info is great thanks ! :thumbsup:

The thing is with '70 Challengers you don't need much downforce at the rear because there is so much lift at the front (due to the recessed grille and overhanging hood) you get a lot of weight transfer to the rear anyway. About 75lbs of downforce at the rear at 100mph.

The front end gets about 370lbs of lift due to the grille and lack of front spoiler. But mainly it is the grille of the '70 model.

What I hope the rear ducktail spoiler will do is reduce some of the drag by spoiling air over into the low pressure area above the rear bumper.

Without wind tunnel tests it is hard to know for sure.

im going to use the chin spoilers also , i know that the ducktail on an aussie charger starts working around 100mph its quite noticable but it would be nice to keep the front down to i will use a wing on the rear rather than the ducktail of the t/a mainly for looks but its also adjustable so that should help, my only question with this set up is that i would also like to have a bumble bee stripe & i dont know if a wing & a bee stripe will look good together or not i might have to do a mock up when its in primer to find out unless anyone has any pics of this combo

thats alot of lift to try to compensate, that ducktail spoiler is lighter too! humm thats a good idea,yea wee need a wind tunnel bad :frown:

yea dave i think i like the carbon fiber more , ill probably steal your idea on my wifes gran coupe, btw i was thinking and if these challys have that much lift in the front , and a rear wing that produces down force , im actually trying to lift the car off the ground with my current set up , and you right there is a considerable amount of lift at high speeds, so i need to re think this set up , i have an extra deck lid i might try a duck tail spoiler too! you definitly got me thinking :thumbsup:

yea i used an emblem and had an embroider do the stitching,yea that would not last if it were glued on, i did this resto in 1996, and its still holding up :thumbsup:

If you're talking of the Transam style front spoilers, a guy used to make them (his e-mail is cudaspoilerguy@aol.com), both with or without brake cooling ducts. I bought two from him last year (one for my 70 Challenger, one for a friend's 73 cuda), mine will go on my car pretty soon now.

Just an update.

The door cards and all the door hardware are now mounted and the doors and glass lined up.

The dash is in but not bolted in place.

Started routing the wiring.
