The best way to get these cars to hook in all honesty is to 4 link and tub them with big rubber underneath the arches, this is the best but most costly (not to mention the cutting up of a decent car).
Stateside guys have run mid to lo 8's on 10.5 inch wide tyres. Theres no reason why anyone else can't. If you look at the cars they usually have a 4 link or ladder bars.
Super stock springs work really well and I've seen cars run lo 10's on these. The pinion snubber helps too.
Caltrac fitted cars can go deep into the 9's.
Light weight makes it easier. So does big rubber but at the cost of above. It depends on how fast you want to go, I would go with a super stock set up until you want to run 9's.

Monte Smith frequents a forum at

Also the car sees some street miles (at 7mpg not too many) and is not fitted with n2o. The car was built to run Lo 10's but it looks like a 9 may be on the cards with a bit more development. The car still suffers wheelspin and the best 60 ft time is 1.54. It should be in the 1.45-1.40 range. I've also got a bigger carb to try and I'm looking to lose a little weight out of the car too.
Thanks for the complements makes it worthwhile.
