I feel dumb asking this question, but I'm about to re-install the trunk edge trim and I can't work out how the plastic trim clips are supposed to fit... it looks like the longer stem of the clip should face outwards and inside the trim piece, but it seems too long... is it supposed to push through somehow? Help!

The base of the stem will crack if you gently knock on the end of the steam with a hammer or something like that. When it cracks, it will be pushed into the rest of the clip. That is how these type of clips usually work.

Thanks, I thought so... also, do I fit the clips onto the trunk and push the trim on, or fit the clips into the trim first?!

Put the clips on the trunk first Andy and then press the moulding into them.
If you push too hard on the moulding you'll crush it and you can see where the clips are

I remember that we used a similar kind of tool when I was an assembly line worker myself.
