                               1. WHAT YOU GOT
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Alright, let's just have a look if you got all required files:

WHO.ACT The Nodestatus-Srtings
WHO.ADV The Advise-Strings
WHO.CFG The Configfile
WHO.NOC The No Caller-Strings
WHO.GER The Dox (German)
WHO.ENG The Dox (Englisch)
WHO.PPE The PPE selbst
WHO1.PCB ANSI for the first few lines
WHO2.PCB Background-ANSI for the single node-lines
WHO3.PCB Border-ANSI for the nightbar-line and everything afterwards

Anything missing? Too bad... improve your phonebooks...
Nothing missing? Nice... continue!

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
                               2. WHAT IT DOES
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

It shows who is just online! :)

And if this doesn't convince you (cause that's what a bunch of PPEs from a
bunch of different groups does), then:

-it shows the users' locations,
-it shows what the users are currently doing,
-it shows in which PPE/Door the Users are hanging around,
-it shows the connect-speeds of the users (or LOCAL),
-it is 100% lightbar-driven,
-it can as well be used with hotkeys,
-it can broadcast messages to the other users,
-it saves those messages in the callerlog-file for the big brother (aka sysop),
-it can jump directly into group chat (internal or external, PPE or door),
-it shows many statistics about a user,
-it shows (for special security-levels) even more statistics about the user,
-it can make a user/sysop invisible (if he has the required security level),
-it allows anyone with a required security level to disconnect anyone with
a lower security level (initiate autologoff sequence),
-it allows on single user (YOU) to kick EVERYONE else,
-it looks qewl (?!),
-it gives (nearly?) all strings (names, actions, etc.) a nice touch with a
 kick-ass color scheme,
-it uses only clean PPL-commands/statements, no shells or messes like that,
-it is backdoor-free (at last I didn't include any),
-it is excessive configurable (when I say that, it really is like that!),
-it is quite easy to install,
-it can be configured both as normal WHO and for the sole porpose of having
a quick look who is online (e.g. for your loginscript)
-it has some kind of online-help for everyone to learn about all its features,
-it reprints only those data fields that actually have changed,
-and it is beta-tested, which means it actually works!

Furthermore, it processes the following strings most other PPEs don't even
recognize:

-If a user enters a message (E-command), you will see who is getting it.
-If a user views an archive (VIEW-command), you will see its filename.
-If a user is in a door, that ugly "USER - DOOR" will be processed to "DOOR".
-If a user is down/uploading, you will see the filename(s), the protocol he's
using, the direction of the transfer (up/down) and even the filesize.
-If a user completes a script questionaire, you will see its number.
-If a user nukes a file, you will see the filename (NukeDuke Minor Support).

How many nodes does it show?
Well, theoretically, unlimeted, but as your screen has just 25 lines, PC Board
won't make more than 23 lines without messing up and the whole thingie still
has to look good, you can show up to 6 nodes without major changes to the
configuration.
If you want more nodes, you have to reconfigure, change the artwork, etc.

If you got 10 or more nodes (lucky one), forget this thing and get the TWA
LINE MONITOR v1.1! It will make 32 nodes without any problems and can easily
be extended to 40 nodes but therefore doesn't look that good and has less
options.

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
                              3. HOW TO INSTALL
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Yeah... convinced?
Okay, this is just a nice domestic PPE. It doesn't really matter where you
install it... you might wish to include it into your CMD.LST... and/or into
your login-script... or someway link it to the CHAT-command... or, be pro-
fessional and install it as a replacement for PCBTEXT #286 and try to figure
out how to suspress the rest of the PCB-internal WHO... good luck!

Finished!!! No need to enter stupid paths! The PPE nastily reads your PCBDIR
enviroment variable... by the way all your node-directories should be made
in the same form, which means on the same drive and only differing by the
nodenumber.
If this doesn't correspond to your setup, you simply won't get any connect-
speeds from the other nodes. Shit happens!

Furthermore, you might wish to change the number of nodes... and the y-coordi-
nates of the lightbar and the buttom picture as well. The rest is more like
meant for sysops who wish to customize the whole PPE. :)

If you painted an artwork on your own and you like it, you may send it to me;
if i e.g. release an update of this PPE your artwork will be included and you
will get fame & glory, fat greetings, etc.

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
                             4. HOW TO CONFIGURE
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

This PPE actually has 4 (FOUR) configfils:
(A-Z order)

-WHO.ACT: The Nodestatus-Strings
The nodestatus-strings are the strings that will be displayed for "User Does"
(in the default configuration this is to be found right under the usernames).
This file also contains the explanations to them I figured out some way (be-
 cause those are nowhere documented).

-WHO.ADV: The Advise-Strings
Here you will find the strings shown to the user instead of the lightbar
if uses some features or just messed it up once more.

-WHO.CFG: The Mega-Configfile
Here can adjust about anything related with this PPE... number of nodes,
colors and coordinates (so that this PPE also works with different ANSIs)
and then those Local/No Caller-strings instead of the connect-speeds.

-WHO.NOC: The No Caller-Strings
... are shown instead of the username if a node awaits a caller or if it is
offline... if you like, you can enter the telephone numbers and modems of
 the respective nodes.

This PPE actually also has 3 (THREE) PCB-Files (ATX/ANSI-Codes):
(1-3 order)

-WHO1.PCB
... is a header that will be shown right at the beginning in the first line.
Use it for a nice logo or something... and make it smaller if you need much
space, e.g. if want many (7 or 8) nodes shown.

-WHO2.PCB
... is a background picture in which the nodes' informations will be put in.
By the way: This will be shown once for each node, so don't you draw this
thing 5 times in there... once and for all!
And it should be designed working together with the maximum lengths for the
data so that just bare spaces will be overwritten because it will not be re-
 displayed if something changes.

-WHO3.PCB
... is the border for the lightbar-line. Looks quite nice and can easily
be kicked out if you want to save space. And if got too much space, this
is the right place to draw whatever you wish to have shown under it.

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
                             5. TROBULE SHOOTING
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Blam, blam, you're dead! :)

-I'm not useing the internal PC Board Group Chat!
-You are the ideal victim... er... target group... for this PPE! Haveing this
PPE installed means - unlike most other brand PPEs - that you have to ability
to define ANY external Group Chat! No matter if it is a PPE or a Door! You
can have SMODEM Group Chat be launched, so that your users can chat with each
other - without bothering you - while transfering files! Of course bi-direct-
ional, so that you will get some nice uploads. Ain't that fine? And all these
 possiblities for just $ 0.-! :)

-Das cloaken funktioniert nicht so ganz.
-Stimmt.

-Cloaking isn't fully functionable.
-Right. Of course, you're only cloaked as long as someone sits in the PPE, as
PC Board will update your status as soon as you leave the PPE but this PPE
will also hide you globally if someone else is useing it. Therefore, you are
invisible for every other WHO! Even for PCBMONI or other non PPE-based WHOs.
This is just one feature of many, not the ultimate reason why this PPE is
better than most (or all?) others.
If cloaking doesn't work at all, you have to create a HIDEUSER directory from
 the PPE's directory!

-I don't want my users to see their enemies' passwords.
-Arglx!? Who said that?! RTFM again! It sais: "for special security levels"!
Just set the required security to 256 and no one will see those... not even
 you!

-How does the color scheme work?
-Well... data will be aquired and each group of characters (which are: upper
case letters, lower case letters, numbers, rest if low-ascii and rest if hi-
ascii) will be printed in a different color. If you don't like this, give all
 groups the same colorcode.

-Which Hotkeys exist?
-Simply try the first letters of the lightbar-buttons (as follows):
e, v, o, m and for the sysop c or u. While selecting nodes, just enter the
 nodenumber (that's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Easy?

-I got some comments/suggestions/critics for you.
-You can find me at the WESTERN ALLIANCE, ICED EARTH and SHOGUNAT and my
 handle is BAD PEON...

-I think i found a bug!
-Yeah... that's how it should be... press L when the PPE displayes garbage...
and send me the file RIP.LOG...

cya...
