BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, PREMADE.EXE!!!

*** All references to ROMDOOR V3.00 refer also to ROMDOOR V4.0X ***

After the release of RomDoor v3.00 there was a lot of confusion on how
to use the premade databases. Since PREMADE.EXE was not included in
v3.00 many people were confused on how they were going to import the
premade databases into RomDoor. Theoretically PREMADE.EXE is not needed
to import databases into RomDoor (Premade databases simply consist of
the files located in the ROMxx directories), because all that is needed
to import a database into RomDoor is to unzip the premade database in
the desired ROMxx directory and, then to enter the name and either the
volume label or "file to look for" into MakeRom.

The format for the premade databases for v3.0x has been improved in
that, they now include a file called CDINFO.DAT which contains the
CD-ROM disk's name. That file is simply a text file and is the FIRST
file in the ZIP file. Since that file is small, PKZIP does not try to
compress it. When PREMADE.EXE is told by the user which directory the
premade databases reside in, it scans all the ZIP files for the
existence of that file (CDINFO.DAT), and then retrieves the CD-ROM's
name. Thus without unzipping the premade database, PREMADE.EXE is able
to tell the user which .ZIP files are for which CD-ROM disks. This is
extremely useful since the 8 character names can get quite cryptic.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
How to convert v2.0x and v3.0x (the ones without CDINFO.DAT) premade
databases to the new v3.0x premade databases.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Before continuing make sure that UPDROM.EXE is located in the CURRENT
directory. For simplicity, run the PREMADE.EXE from the RomDoor
directory even if the premade databases are located in a different
path.

IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE THAT PKUNZIP.EXE AND PKZIP.EXE ARE IN YOUR PATH.

From the RomDoor directory type: PREMADE <Premade FileName>

NOTE: PREMADE assumes the ZIP extension, you have the option of including
      it on the command line.

You will see the premade database unzipping into a temporary
directory. Then a information box will come up explaining what is
going to happen. Basically, the first screen after the info box
shows the very first record in the database with RomDoor v2.0x's
record format and the second screen shows the record in RomDoor
    v3.0x's record format.

If the premade database you are updating is a v2.0x premade database
then the first screen will display the description correctly. If
the premade database is a v3.0x premade database then the second
screen will display the description correctly.

You will then be asked which record format displayed correctly. If
you select v2.0x, PREMADE will swap out to UPDROM and run the upgrade
process on that single database. If you select v3.0x, PREMADE will
simply create the CDINFO.DAT and make sure that the RDVER.DAT exists
so that UPDROM won't try to upgrade the database in the future.

Finally PREMADE deletes the original premade database and swaps out
to PKZIP to compress the new premade database.
