[PWA] PCBForum v.94c Sample Menu Set. ------------------------------------- Hi, this is Straight Jacket (Creator of PCBForum) - I can see that you have decided so far to take a look at making a menu set for PCBForum - version 94c. Well I would first off like to thank you for your interest and I'll just explain a few things that you should know when making the menu set and what to do when finished. WHAT THE HELL IS PCBFORUM? -------------------------- I've been running PCBoard for a while and I've noticed that every ELITE board has tried to make their board look as if it was a FORUM board. But the thing is you just can't fake it with PCBoard because everything is done from the main menu. So when the PPL (PCBoard Programming Language) came about I started work on PCBForum. So if you are running PCBoard right now -- YOU don't have to fake it anymore - Your board can look like a FORUM! Easy to install there is only one PPE! Unlike some try hard FORUM/PCBOARD combos this is all done with one PPE. It has rumours, bbs list, seperate message/xfers menu etc. and most of it, if not all of the commands are similar to those of FORUM commands. Simple Instructions ------------------- 1) UNZIP TEXT.ZIP 2) Read over the the FILE NAMES and descriptions under the heading "LISTING OF ALL THE FILES" below. 3) I would appreciate it if you would save all the menus using the PCBoard @X codes. This is simple to do. - IF you can't grasp this just save them as .ans files! :) There may be a few exceptions with the file stats and message stats - Even I had to use ANSI there! - 1st block your menu and then press ALT S and then instead of pressing [A] for ANSI save press [@] for @X save and then select PCBOARD and then you can do the rest from there. (lots of and thens eh?) 4) If you are editing the PCBFORUM.PCB (where all the text is stored) and wish to make what i call tacky prompts (more than one line prompt) you may do this by making an external file. Just replace the line where the default text prompt was with the name of the file for the external prompt. For example - lets say you wanted to make a two - three line main menu prompt. You would make your prompt and save it as mainp.pcb. - you would then erase the text line that had the default main menu prompt and just place the mainp.pcb - Now lets take a closer look --> e.g. Default prompt was : @X09[Main Menu@X09] Command: Replace this with: MAINP.PCB NOTE: You may do this with the all the prompts! 6) UNZIP EXTRA.ZIP - Check these files out and if you wish you may edit these as well. 7) ZIP all the NEW menus up when you are done. If you want you could include a info file - maybe a BBS ad or something you would like to say about your menu sets. LISTING OF ALL THE FILES ------------------------ BBSH.PCB - BBS listing header. BBSM.PCB - BBS listing menu. CNFMSGH.PCB - Message conference header. This file does not exist in the text.zip, an example of this is in the EXTRA.ZIP. CNFXFERH.PCB - XFER/File conference header. Like the CNFMSGH.PCB, this file is in the EXTRA.ZIP COLORS.CFG - Text/Config file containing the default colors for that menu set in that TEXT* directory. FILEM.PCB - Files menu. FILESTAT.PCB - File stats - displayed to user after joining XFER conference. MAINM.PCB - Main menu. MSGAREAH.PCB - Message areas header. This file is also in the EXTRA.ZIP MSGH.PCB - Message header. Intirely different from MSGAREAH.PCB. MSGM.PCB - Message menu. MSGSTAT.PCB - Message stats - displayed to user after joining MSG conf. NEWSM.PCB - News room/Bulletin menu. PCBFORUM.PCB - Where all the TEXT prompts etc. defined. RUMOURSH.PCB - Rumours header. RUMOURSM.PCB - Rumours menu. SPECIALH.PCB - Special menu header. This is also in EXTRA.ZIP SYSOPM.PCB - Sysop menu. Comments: --------- PCBForum v.94c has been released, so if you want to independently release your menu set, go ahead. I wouldn't mind having a copy of your menu set though. WHAT NOW? --------- Well if you are done your menus send em' to: The Creed Outworn - 403-256-8357
