AMi-X WEEKTOP V1.50 FINAL

1. What is this thing for?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are serious, then you shouldn't be reading this file anyway, so go
away!
2. How do I get this thing to work?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a) Go carefully through CNF file.
b) Put WEEKTOP.PPE in your PCBTEXT line 192.
c) Put WEEKTOP$.PPE in your logon. (I would suggest that you put it even
before your logon, right after user entered his password, and it's
correct!)
d) To display the ASCII to users put it in your logon. Or if you want it
to be your intro file when user joins conference put it there (I don't
care )
e) This thingy requires a registration code if you want to get rid of that
nasty blinking <UNREGISTERED COPY> sign. To register simply call up
The Atomic Tower (905-824-7716, 905-824-2674), and logon as REGISTERTC.
No password is required. Make sure you have your @boardname@ and your
(sysop's) handle exactly as it spelled in PCBSETUP. If it's wrong
the code won't work!
3. What was added/fixed/removed?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I would like to say that I'm quite pleased with the amount of people
that are using this thingy. Unfortionately I got a lot of complains such as
"It's always fucking up" or "It doesn't create the ASCII", shit like that.
So I think that I didn't make myself clear about the requirements that
are necessary in order for this thingy to work. So I'd like to list a few
1) You must always like 5kb of free space on your HD, otherwise there is no
room to create the DAT file and to update the ASCII.
2) Some users, when they logoff, they see that weektop is updating, so
they just drop carrier. That will fuck it up.
3) If you are running 5+ node board on 1 PC using OS/2 or whatever the
fuck is it that you use, board crashes very often. And when it crashes
it has to hang up all users at the same time. This way everyone would
want to access the DAT file at the same time which will screw up the
DAT file, and the whole weektop ASCII as well.
Basically I can't think of anything else. This version fixes items 2 and 3
As you understand item 1 is not up to me. You are responsible for the
amount of space that you have left. I'd suggest that you put weektop on the
drive that is not for uploads, or you should always watch out for the
amount of free space that you got.
I didn't want to add anything to the configuration, because I want to see
the results of bugfixing. Once I stop getting complains, I'll make it 100%
configurable. But for now stick to this one. Oh, and one more thing, I was
able to improve the speed of it by 20% so enjoy!
