Alpha 12 - 04/07/97 Size: 412,160 (Run setup once!)
- When adding new files there is are 4 different date options: Current
Date, file date (last modified), .DIZ date, and date of newest file.
Option will be save and it will be used as default on next use.
Removed 'Use current date when adding files' in the setup.
- Added 'Insert .DIZ' to 'Descriptions' menu. This will create and
insert a FILE_ID.DIZ into an archive using the file's description
for all tagged or selected files.
- Put support in PFEDLAB for deleting BBS ads by keywords. This extracts
all text files and searches for matching strings to identify it as a
BBS ad. Added file list input to setup. Can edit list in 'Edit Lists...'
- BUG: When double-clicking on an item it sometimes didn't do the
default action. If default was 'open' it didn't work - Fixed.
- BUG: Now clears statusbar after file copies and extractions.
- HELP: Updated Master List, Add New Files, and BBS Ads section.

- Support moving dirs from one conference to another.
- If Windows Display is setup to use Large Fonts toolbar looks oversized.

- Deal with dir title/comments, sorting, moving etc, mid-dir comments too.
- if Previous instance of PFED95 is running, pass focus to it and quit
current method doesn't work, dunno why
- improve the logic for adding tape/set # when moving files offline
- Adding a slight delay before drag could fix some of the drag problems.
- Ability to time stamp files, as an option + when changing dates
- Dupe Check - add to tools menu
- Add Get DIZ and maybe insert DIZ button to description editor
- During setup check if PFEDLAB.EXE is in the proper path

Alpha 11 - 04/03/97 Size: 405,504
- Now won't add files to a directory that are 0 byte.
- BUG: When renaming long filenames, MS-DOS short name wasn't renamed - fixed.
- Added Master List (1 line) to 'Tools' menu this is same as master
list but only shows 1st line of description.
- When editing description there was a little delay while it did API's to get
icon, file dates, etc. now only does that if displaying the properties screen
for quicker editing. Also redid properties screen, added 'Creation date'.
- BUG: Repacker didn't work at all, switch was wrong - Fixed
- Using the RAM-Drive applies to Virus Scanning & Repacking Files too (Aeon)
Alpha 10 - 03/31/97 Size: 403,456
- Major BUG: Extended description could only be 254 bytes long! which
is only about 7 lines. Had to redo ALL description routines.
Description can now be of unlimited length. Descriptions are kept in
an temporary description database file. (EXTDESCS.TMP)
- I wanted to be able to view a file's FULL description without having to
edit it. Added 'Descriptions' to 'View' menu. It splits the directory
list into two sizeable windows. (only when in a directory) The description
window (bottom) shows the selected file's full description and is sizable.
- Add 'Edit Lists...' to Scan Files menu. Can edit any of 6 lists: Files to
Add, Files to Delete, Protected Files, Lines to Remove, Strings to Remove,
and Characters to Translate. Can delete, edit, or add files or text.
- TAG BUGS: Wouldn't remove large icon checked box when using 'Un-Tagging all
files'. After deleting files still showed # Tagged on status bar - Fixed.
- BUG: When files are moved they are moved in reverse order - Fixed
- BUG: When processing a file that was off-line it would error-out - Fixed
- Moved Descriptions menu to the bottom above 'Edit Description'.
- Tried to upgrade to VB5 which has a native compiler and is 25% faster and
fixes drag problems but of course it wouldn't install or work right.
Alpha 9 - 03/23/97 Size: 389,120
- Did away with using .PIF for shells now uses 'command /c' (Freefall)
- Added a way to use Windows based virus scanners in PFED95. Added a new
page in setup for Windows Scan. Can select between six different windows
scanners including NAVW, NAVW32, SCAN95, MSAV, WFINDVIR, and WNAPVIR.
Any scanner can be entered as long as parameter line is entered correctly.
PFED unzips all files to a temp directory which should be passed as macro
|fp sample line for NAV32 would be is |fp\*.* /s. Since doing
asynchronous shells in win32 is troublesome only 1 selected file can be
scanned at a time. It is found in 'Scan files' menu. Virus Scan (Win)
if scan internal files are enabled PFED even reads the headers of
all files to find ALL internal archives (to get those .R01,.001 types)
- Found some bad bugs in the shell routine that handles PFEDLAB - Fixed.
- HELP: Added Virus Scans; DOS & Windows, Master List, updated others.
Alpha 8 - 03/22/97 Size: 383,488
- Added Create Master List to Tools menu. Can specify output filename but
can't specify which areas to include. It adds all dirs except for PCBoard
private dirs. Supports %filename on line 1 of dir to show external titles.
- In Description Editor/Properties Editor the "Open" button now opens the
file with default command. Wasn't working at all before.
- Since this is windows I needed to add Bitmap image support.
- Internal bitmap viewer, enable 'Use internal bitmap viewer as default'
in Images section in setup to use. Supports: BMP/RLE/EMF/WMF (Metafiles)
Also added it to the pop-up menu as 'Internal Viewer'
- Add bitmap image stats to descriptions, uses same format as GIF stats.
- Can now test bitmaps using GFXCHK.EXE (c)Stacey Smith
- BUG: If GFXCHK failed a image PFEDLAB didn't fail it or show message -Fixed.
- Now can't edit file properties for or rename dir comments. Fixed icon.
Alpha 7 - 03/21/97 Size: 379,904
- Clicking the right mouse button (pop-up menu) on a file now show all the
external program options available for that file type in the registry.
Supported are Open, Play, Play Audio, Edit, Convert, Print, and ZIPView.
(for viewing EXE's)
- When double-clicking on an icon it now runs with default option not just open.
- Added new Help About screen.
- You can now run Microsoft's system information program from either the tools
menu or a button on the Help's About screen. Got good stuff in it.
- BUG: When setup runs the icons on the LISTVIEW vanish - FIXED.
- HELP: Added moving files, long filenames, + redid opening files section.
Alpha 6 - 03/20/97 Size: 370,000
- Started adding the HELP System. What a bitch.
- Added option 'Save dir changes without prompts'. Also added a new menu
option 'Undo...' in case save without prompts is enabled and the directory
gets so screwed you want to abort any changes.
- Can now change font used for editing descriptions under 'View', 'Options'
- Changed Tape/Set & GIF/JPEG macros back to | pipe macros Ex: @TAPE@ is |TN
and HxWxC is |GHx|GWx|GC. Keeps thing standardized.
- Added option 'Add backup tape & set #'s when moving files off-line'
note: gotta determine what all is off-line.
- Changed Scan files by selected options to only show option screen before
starting, not for every file.
- BUG: If no files selected when scanning it still asked 'View Processing Log'
- BUG: It didn't show anything on the screen if scanning by selected options
and 'View Processing' was off, now shows results.
- Statusbar would flicker like it was updating all the time, now only
updates if something needs changing (Aeon)
Alpha 5 - 03/15/97
- Added support for PCBoard index files (.IDX) files. Personal Areas
use this also to support new Find by filenames.
- Added Search 'Type' to Find Files - Filename or description. Searching
by filenames will search only .IDX files and accepts wildcards. (faster)
Search Default is now whatever area your in instead of all folders.
- When deleting or moving files totals are updated on the status bar.
- BUG: Listview - When dragging icons sometimes the icon starts the drag
from the middle of the listview instead of x,y of the item - caused by
dragging icon so fast it's out of range before drag event begins.
Started the drag before tag select & ghosts set, some improvement.
- When editing dir properties it will create the file path if it doesn't
exist. Re-did the makeadir procedure because it could error out.
- Added import TriBBS file listing to import descriptions options.
- When adding files it now won't add TriBBS's dir file. (files.lst)
Alpha 4 - 03/14/97
- Added capability to add up to 10 personal conferences from setup.
- You can now tag files when in 'Large Icon' view mode. The icons
changes to a large check then when untagged returns to original icon.
- Added import file descriptions. Supports text files (you specify
where description starts & length) and PCBoard file listings.
- Improved personal dir options: User-defined Icon now works. You can
specify the extensions of what file types to permit in the dir now.
- When deleting dirs it now asks to delete directory listings as well.
- Removes extension for PCB text dir files when editing dir properties.
- When new dir is initialized it automatically goes to add new files screen.
- BUG: When downloading files while PFED was running it didnt
recognize new files until re-running - Fixed: Always Refresh filelist
- BUG: When saving a file and not exiting it would prompt 'Add New
Uploads' erroneously - Fixed: now updates original file size after save.
- BUG: You can click on a dir that you already have loaded and it will
load again - Fixed: uses OpenNodeNb% to check what's loaded.
- BUG: When expanding a tree parent node, it sometimes shows a child open
but it really isn't. Semi-Fixed (fixes, then says try again)
Alpha 3 - 03/12/97
- Added check to add uploaded files while working in directory.
- Add Sort directory to toolbar, uses whatever is default for that dir.
- Added Sort order # column to list, added tribbs sort support.
- Added Select All icons to view, wont work in popup menu so its in view.
- Now re-checks free space after deletes.
- in Directory properties it now creates MS-DOS names if necessary and
automatically comes up with a name based on menu if a personal dir.
- Allow special options for a dir so for example if i want to have all
my Gameboy ROMs in a dir i can define a icon and program to run them.
