Monitoring your chat servers allows you to maintain their availability and performance. Regular monitoring indicates which services are running and informs you about the state of those services. It also allows you to discover irregularities and correct them before they interrupt service.
To monitor Chat Service, you use the Performance Monitor application in the Windows NTŪ Server Control Panel. The performance counters provided with Chat Service allow you to create charts and reports that show critical information related to security, performance, and capacity.
Performance Monitor includes a single Chat Service object. For a description of each Chat Service performance counter, see Chat Service Performance Counters.
In addition to charts and reports, you can define messages that notify you when monitored values exceed the thresholds that you specify. For more information, see Help in Performance Monitor.
