Creating a Persistent Channel
Complete the following steps to create a persistent channel.
To create a persistent channel
- From the Chat Service Manager utility, select a chat server under Microsoft Exchange Chat Service in the left pane.
- Select Channels (Rooms) in the left pane.
- From the Action menu, choose New, and then choose Create channel.
- Type the name of the channel in the Name box, and then
choose OK. Be sure to precede the channel name with a valid
channel prefix (#, &, %#, or %&).
Important If you plan to clone the channel, do not end the channel
name with a number.
The channel name is the only parameter required for a persistent channel.
To customize a persistent channel
Modify the channel properties as needed using the following property sheets:
- General. Use to set the channel topic or subject, or to create the messages that clients see when joining or leaving the channel.
- Access. Use to choose a member account, set joining restrictions, or assign passwords.
- Settings. Use to set the member limit, specify the language, rate the channel's content, or provide client-specific data.
- Modes. Use to set the channel visibility (public, private, hidden, or secret), impose speaking restrictions, or set message parameters.
