Banning a User

Complete the following steps to ban a user from the service.

To ban a user

1. From the Chat Service Manager utility, select a chat server under Microsoft Exchange Chat Service in the left pane.
2. Select Banned Users in the left pane.
3. From the Action menu, choose New, and then choose Create ban.
4. In the General property sheet, type the user's nickname, user name, and domain name.
   
   Note The Nickname, User name, and Domain name options accept the asterisk (*) and the question mark (?) as wildcard characters.
5. To limit the ban to a particular time of day, in the Connect time group box, type a start time and stop time. All times are Universal coordinated time (UTC), which is also known as Greenwich mean time (GMT).
6. To indicate why you are banning the user, type the reason in the Reason for ban box; otherwise, choose OK.
