To Set Up the Meeting Channel
After you connect to the server, set up a channel for the private meeting.
- Select Channels (Rooms) in the left pane.
- From the Action menu, choose New, and then choose Create channel.
- Type the name of the channel in the Name box, and then choose
OK. Be sure to precede the channel name with a valid
channel prefix (#, &, %#, or %&).
- From the Access property sheet, type a password in the Member box. Anyone who wants to attend the meeting must use the Member password to join the channel.
- Type a different password in the Owner box. The person leading the meeting must use this password to join the channel and invite the participants.
- Select the Invitation only check box. This permits only invited users to join the channel.
Note Another way to restrict access to the channel is to select the No
external messages check box in the Modes property sheet. This blocks
messages sent to the channel by users who are not designated members.
- From the Settings property sheet, set Member limit to the number of
participants expected to attend the meeting.
- From the Modes property sheet, set Visibility to Secret,
and then choose OK. This prevents users who are not designated members from
discovering the channel through any query, including enumeration queries (using
commands such as LIST or LISTX).
