as DX, NX, MX, and other actuarial functions. The QLIB/48 User's Guide
(QLIB48.DOC) provides detailed information on the use of the system
itself; the purpose of this README.TXT file is to provide you with
preliminary background information.

3. The QLIB/48 User's Guide (in QLIB48.DOC) provides detailed
information on the installation, use, and internal operation of
QLIB/48. At a minimum, you should read chapters 0, I and II to
familiarize yourself with the basic use of the system.
4. QLIB48.DOC is a plain ASCII text file. If your printer supports
printing directly from DOS, you can print the documentation from a DOS
prompt using PRINT QLIB48.DOC or COPY QLIB48.DOC PRN . If you print
QLIB48.DOC from Windows, be sure to use a fixed pitch (non-proportional)
font, so that tables will line up properly.
QLIB48.DOC consists of 100 pages, plus 4 preface pages. It is designed
for duplex printing (both sides of the page), but one-sided printing
will work fine as well. The pages are designed to be printed on pages
measuring 80 columns by 60 lines, which is the standard page size for
many printers (e.g., HP LaserJets) when text is sent directly to the
printer. With a font that prints 10 characters per inch and 6 lines
per inch, each page should print cleanly with one-inch margins on all
four edges (on 8.5x11-inch paper).
