This library (800) will protect your HP when you are absent by pulsing the IR
LED and checking the keyboard for unauthorized use.
To install the HPALARM library, follow the instructions for an auto-attaching
library in the HP User's Guide. As always, backup memory before using.
You must have installed the IFERR library (1793) previously.
When you start the program it will check if the IFERR library is attached to
your HOME path. Then you will be asked to press a key, which will disable the
alarm afterwards.
Now you should place your calculator in front of a solid object and enable the
alarm by pressing any key. You do _not_ need to take off the plastic cover
over the infra-red pair.
HP-Alarm now disables the screen and turns the busy annunciator on and off, so
you can see that HP-Alarm is running.
To disable HP-alarm simply press the specified key. If you press another key
or remove the calc from its place the alarm will be triggered: the words
"ALARM" and "DON'T TOUCH ME" will flash on the screen and the calc will be
very noisy (if you have flag 56 disabled).
I don't know how much HP-Alarm drains your batteries. The IR led is only on
for about 20 microseconds for each second and the screen is disabled, but the
main processor is active all the time.
I've disabled the ON-key by placing the check-loop and the alarm-loop in the
THEN-part of an IFERR command.
I've tested HP-Alarm on my HP48GX Rev.R

I own my HP48 for a few months now and I do not know so much about programming
yet. So if you have any comments, please e-mail me.
