For those who don't have these utilities already, save them, they will
solve your problems !!!

Lately there have been many queries about bad uploads on his group. A bad
upload is when you get a string like "HPHP48-...." instead of the
executable program. I have myself encountered many bad uploads of
files lifted off this group, or from a site (e.g. the french?.zip disks.
Ah, before you ask; you can get them at seq.uncwil.edu:/hp48/Uploads.old2).

As a response to this, here are 2 progs (with docs) that tries to fix
these uploads. They both work on your hp.

DISCLAIMER: I din't make these. I don't take any credits or responsibility
for the performance of these programs. Read the docs for more info.

FIXIT: by Horn & Heiskanen, works on S. I consider this one the best since
objfix haven't worked for me yet.
OBJFIX: by HP, works on S & G. Supposed to be safer....

Also someone just posted a short way of doing this with SYSEVALs. (look back
about 150 letters or so.)

Be carefull though. Even if a fix looks okay IT CAN blow your memory. I've
tried a few libraries which gave me an "Ivalid Card Data" and then hid all
my other libs.

As an apropos; some people have asked about this too: If you suspect that
your libs somehow got hidden (they take up mem, but don't show in the
library-menu), try [ON]-[A]-[F] and answer YES to "Try To Recover Memory".
This allways work for me, but still... don't do this before you have
considered the risk yourself.

It would all be much better if everybody checked their uploads before
posting. (like the term48 prog which didn't even unzip, no flame intended
;-) ). Anyway here are the files, ziped and uuencoded. Hope this isn't a
bad upload (-: .
