  To support the new features of DT-QWK, the file formats of the configuration
  file and the message base files have changed.

  Included in this packet is a program called UPDATE.EXE. This program
  will perform the neccessary changes to the message base files to
  make them compatible with the new version of DT-QWK.

  To perform the update, simply copy the distribution files of DT-QWK into
  your current DT-QWK directory and execute the program UPDATE.EXE.

  It might be a good idea to make a backup copy of your current DT-QWK
  installation before letting UPDATE perform the update. I have tested and
  checked the update functions and to the best of my knowledge they perform
  correctly. But, one never knows ...

  After the update process, the old configuration file will be stored in
  DTQWK.CF!, the old message header files will be in AREAnnn.HD! (nnnn
  denoting the area number).

  If the new version of DT-QWK performs correctly, you can delete the backup
  files, as they are no longer needed.

  Um die neuen Funktionen zu unterstützen war ich gezwungen, das Dateiformat
  der Konfigurationsdatei und der Nachrichtendateien in Version 1.4 zu ändern.

  Dem Programmpaket liegt ein Programm namens UPDATE.EXE vor, das die
  nötigen Änderungen in den System-Dateien vornimmt.

  Um die neue Version von DT-QWK zu benutzen, kopier einfach alle zu
  DT-QWK gehörenden Dateien in Dein aktuelles DT-QWK-Verzeichnis und
  ruf das Programm UPDATE.EXE auf.

  Es wäre bestimmt keine schlechte Idee, wenn Du zunächst eine Sicherheits-
  Kopie Deiner laufenden DT-QWK-Installation anfertigen würdest, bevor Du
  UPDATE das Update durchführen läßt. Ich habe die entsprechenden Routinen
  geprüft und getestet und kann nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen behaupten,
  daß sie zuverlässig arbeiten. Aber, man weiß ja nie ...

  Nach der Aktualisierung der Dateien ist die alte Konfigurationsdatei in
  DTQWK.CF! umbenannt worden, die alten Nachrichtendateien sind in
  AREAnnn.HD! (wobei nnn jeweils für die Brettnummer steht).

  Wenn die neue Version von DT-QWK mit den geänderten Dateien einwandfrei
  funktioniert, kannst Du die Sicherheits-Dateien entfernen, sie werden dann
  nicht mehr benötigt.
