--> Six'th Place At The Assembly 97, Helsinki Finalnd 1997
--> The best configuration for this demo is as follows :
■ Pentium 133 and above (166 Prefered) && (Demo needs fpu)
■ 16MB Memory (I'm not sure it can run with 8MB)
■ VESA 2 compliant graphic accelerator or Univbe ver 5.3a and above
■ Sound Blaster OR Gravis Ultrasound or whatever MIDAS supports.
-> The demo is 100% Synchronized to graphics on a Sound Blaster,
But while testing on Gravis we found out that from the water
scene it tadly lags, So if you have a GUS and the T-Rex's
mouth closes be4 the roar ends, try it on a SoundBlaster :)
Ofcourse, the best configuration (In my opinion) would be a Pentium
(not PPro) of 166 (Like the Assembly Compo Machine) or 200 MHZ. 16MB of
EDO Ram are enough, A SoundBlaster AWE 32 with 2MB of memory (so that
it can hold all the samples on his memory and use hardware mixing) and
be synchronized to the demo. (What, you still here ? 8)

Seven is a demonstration By Immortals. It was first released at the
Assembly 97 Demo Competition, and it won the 6th place out of the 15
demos that came up to the finals, which were carefully selected by a jury
out of the total 41 demos that were submitted at Assembly. Seven is the first
Israely production to go abroad, and we hope that the Israely scene will be
proud of it, and we hope that we made it pretty clear to everybody out there
that the Israely scene does worth something, and even if most of the finish
ppl think we ride cammels (WE DONT) and live in caves (NOT me atleast), we
can do some neat stuff. Anyhows, I won't go into the story of telling you
why we deserved second place, and obviously why we didn't get it :)

Kombat:
We didnt work too much time on the demo, it was basically two weeks of
work. Except for the keyframing engine, that took me a few months. The
engine is 'Moshe', coded by Kombat during the two/three months prior to the
Assembly. The Opening Beeping Logo and the Credits were also coded by Kombat.
The Texture Mapper was written in a few days, The Perspective
Texture Mapper was written in a day and a half (it used most of the regular
texture mappers code) by Rage the rather intelligent thing. All the remaining
code was done mostly by Kombat.
The music was written in less than a week I think by Dark-spirit which always
stated that the music would be the last thing we should worry about, and well
it was :). And ofcourz the meshes which took no more than two weeks were
done by the amazing Thor which erally amazed all of us with his Trex/Raptor/
Condor/Everytihng. Why do I fogret this, Textuers/Logos by Thor also.
A week be4 assembly we started working real hard. We had no music, no
perspective texture, and only 1 or 2 scenes. On Tuesday that week, I (Kombat)
took of to Helsinki/Finland. I left my house at 5:00am, at 4:45am Dark-Spirit
sent me the almost final module. We all agreed that on friday, the first day
of assembly, and the day of all deadlines, we would meet on IRC at 12:00.
Well, after some problems :) we finally met. Dark-Spirit sent me his final
module and rage sent me the new lighthouse scene (Thor added the fish) and
some new code to take care of UVWrapping and Shadows at the dinosaurs part.
All the information was passed through our page at geocities, so if you were
smart enough and an asshole enough (Like borzom was ;], u could get our
shadow sources :). I ran up back to the hotel working on the final version.
At 7 ocklock I compiledalmost final version, ran down to assembly, and tested
it again. I talked to some friends ant they told me that once there was some
intro that if u pressed space at the middle it would crash. Suddenly I
recalled that I left all of the keyboard debuggign support on the compiled
version. This ment that u could crash the demo with pressign P (instead of
pausing) and move forward and backward within the module with pressing, well,
back and forth. I ran to a dark corner, disabled, compiled, ran, and stood
half an our in the fucking line with two diskettes in my hand. Eventually I
handed in the demo 15 minutes be4 the deadline, so, stuff was ok.
Enough will blabbing, if you wanna hear some stories about asm, either call
me, or w8 for Ritual97 (If your from Israel).
special 10x goto Adept and Silvatar for always helping me with mathematical
stuff which I was to lazzy to find out myself. Also 10x to Borzom for giving
me the idea of the moshe's data-structures, they RULE!
Kombat greets :
DJ-Crazy,Adept,Borzom,CyberEagle,Silvatar,Civax,Turk182,T3a,Night-Daemon,

Oh, and greets to that sweet finnish dudet that interviewd me to the Ezine,
and told me nothing more than I already knew about the finnish sauna ;)
and to the other finnish dudet from Carolls (A burger place at Helsinki)
that insisted on saying 'good morning' although it was 20:00pm ;)
and to whoever created that massive race of good looking finnish women.
special tanks to Civax which helped me alot at the party place, since he
managed to fit in as an organizer. So civax, 10x for the computer with
the net connection, and the voting information :), cya at mov98.
"every person has a name...", so if I forgot one of my friends, sorry :(
BTW - soundvirus, that was lame!
Thy Shalt Shatap,
Ohad Eder Pressman aka Kombat / Immortals
PS - For all u maniacs out there, Kombat Screams Go byebye!
PS2 - Sorry we didn't include a low-resolution version, but well,
it looks like shit ;)
PS3 - Sorry we didn't fix the UV-Wrapping and Shadows at the final version,
UV-Wrapping required us to change all the data-structure of Mapping
Cooridnate handling (Insted of per vertice, per Poly Edge), and the
shadows, welp, we rathered play duke :).
PS4 - I decided to leave the data open, cause :
A. It would be much easier for all of you to access the data :)
B. You could see the scenes/textures and run them with your engines,
compare and do all the other boring stuff we all just love to do :)
C. Well, its a bitch sitting and writing some file system to handle
all this shit, especially after the demo is ready, mayB for next
demo we write a file-system.
So go and rip that data, but plz, if you use any of it or it helps you
with anything, please message us or credit us, thank you.

Thor:
Welp... Hi all! This is Thor speaking...
This demo required A LOT and I mean A LOT of work from me and my group.
As you might have noticed I did the Graphics (All the 2D and 3D art (Except
from the last scene which Kombat had completed/created over there (or here
, depends on where you are) in Finland) In the Demo. Welp.. Nothing
Much to say... I used 3D Studio Release 4 and some several Plug-ins for it
for making the 3D stuff. PhotoShop 4.0 + Plug-ins was used to make most
of the Textures and Logos and for 8-Bit editing and palette adjusments
I used Animator Pro. Welp.. Enough with the Tech-Stuff... (If anyone
has any Comment,Question,Death Threats etc.. please E-Mail me!)
My favorite part is (Of course) the Jurassic Stuff which I am proud of..
The animation there is Really good (IMHO..) and I really like the models..
Welp.. I was very happy to hear that we reached the Finals on ASM97 and
I was EXTREMLY Excited when I heard we had won 6th place (although a
little disappointed... I wanted 5th place which had money in it :)...)
Welp... Enough's Spoken!!!! GREETS:
All of Immortals:
Kombat - What an engine huh? :)
Rage - What a great Texture mapper!!! :)
DARKY!!!! - It all went well after all huh? Great stuff...
Sound Virus - Lo Yafe she Nasat Lirkod!!!! :)
All of the Israely Scene (Civax, T3a, D.J crazy etc...)
ESTEEM
BSP
YOE
The standard Stuff... you know FC, Dubius etc...
Any one I am missing as I write these Lines (Yes.. you too Shudder..:))
BYe BYe!
Thor of Immortals 97
BTW: RIP! RIP! RIP! Take EVERYTHING I Don't care! try to learn from
those stuff! please mail me anything you do with it or credit
me for my work ok?, 10x... C'ya

Dark Spirit:
Well, I really hoped that this Demo will be much better.
we wrote an incredible design, and we had few things no
one had before us.
But time was our problem, and the Demo turned out to be
only 30% of what I wanted it to be.
The Music was written ages ago, by my close friend Sound Virus.
It fit the Demo wonderful, But 2 weeks before assembly, He
left for France, for some tour of his. SHiT. :)
I don't know how to create chords, only sound virus does,
and i could not write his music doe to the fact i didn't remembred any of
it! so, i sat on my chair, infront of the Impulse Tracker's Purple Screen,
and cryed. After few hours of Despair and Bleeding, the music turned out
to be UGLY. Than I bleed more, and it was SHITTY. than it turned out to be ok.
I called Kombat and gave it to him. he said it sux. i said "WELL, THA HELL
WITH YOU!" and hung up. That might sound funny now, but i was almost sure that
I will be the one to fail the Demo...
Shitty ideas came out, like using my old music, or getting help from other
Trackers like ViC, Mental Trip or DNA groove, but they died fastly, doe to the
fact I have respect. :) If i send something to the Assembly, i want it 100%
mine, even if it sux. The greatest problem was, that i didnt had nor the
will or inspiration to track, so i simply created a "Sketch", so the demo will
have SOMETHING to work with.
and that - the miricle has happen...!
The module turned out to be Extremely big. around 2000KB.
and though FT2 and IT played it right, midas kept on crushing!
but what a WONDERFULL crash!!! :)
Midas invented notes, samples, sounds, chords that i never put in! and they
sound great!!! all i need to do, was copying them into a module, and making
the file smaller! so - the credit here must go to MIDAS BUGS SYSTEM, which
is responsable for great parts in the mayan-temple part, and other things. :)
The final version is OK. I dont like it too much, becouse the original one
is much much better, but it suites the demo.
That is all. Get ready for Surprises soon.
Dark Spirit.

RaGe:
Coding Seven took us most of the summer vacation especially the week before
the Assembly.
Our "deadline" was three days before the party started (cause kombat flew
to Helsinki) and that gave me very little time to code the Perspective
Texture, I finished it only a day before, and it took me about a day and a
half. In the last five days I coded almost all the ASM procedures ( except
for the normal Texture and some #pragma's which i did before).
There are two major things that were not in Seven -
UVwarping (i sent kombat through the internet something that handled
that shit about 7 hours before the assembly deadline, but it was too
late).
Shadows (Kombat wrote the initial version that partially worked,
i finished it very soon to the deadline ( 3-4 hours), and didn't find
kombat on the internet, so I could send it only to myself).
this is the Greeting section, and I don't have too many so here it goes :
- FC for one of the greatest net-games 'DEATH RALLY' (plz make it for
8 players, and with more then 9 rounds).
- Mri thank for Fatmap, I learned about pentium optimize, the other
stuff was very nice but nothing new (for me :) .
- BigJim for solstice music, I saw lot of demos this is one of the
best musics.
- Borzom for giving me some helpfull numbers that without them i could
not Enter to the internet ;) .
- RaGe ( thats me ! ) for being such a generous person, kind, polite
and thoutful |;<8 ) .
Here goes greeting with no reason for :
Trauma (only guys from Dubius :), Pascal(gr8 train),
eclipse (what a music in magic), statix + vic (for a toilet :) and
an invitation for wired),
Doomsday (gr8 girls Email me their phones).
some locals :
Civax, Trex, shudder, adept, D.J Crazy, Sound Virus - Big Thanks,
Sticky Baboon, and some more anonymous ppl which let me use their
pentiums, and skills for two days.
Any one i know or ever talk to and not on the the list its because U got
a complicated name :} .
You can alway find me on #coders (then again you probobly won't :).
or email me.
