. VERIFY CONNECTION

. tapes should be retensioned before they are used

. Erases all data on the tape. You do not need to

. Determines which parallel or serial ports exist in
. your computer and displays the physical port

. Rewinds the tape so that the magnetic recording
. region of the tape is not exposed. It is a
. good practice to store tapes in the rewound
. position.

. PARTITION TAPE
. Only the DAT and the PSTý-2000 minicartridge
. drives require this function. Prior to use new or
. bulk erased tapes should be partitioned to define
. the QFA directory on the tape. This function takes
. about 5 minutes for the minicartridge drives, and
. up to 10 minutes for the DAT drives.
