This option allows you to select the
state of the power-up configuration
of your STEREOþF/X card. These changes
are permanent and remain valid until
altered by this option again.
Recommended settings: PORT 220, IRQ 7

3
Here are some handy test routines to verify
the configuration of the STEREOþF/X card.
Make sure that you have set the power-up
configuration before testing the card.

4
Set or disable the port address of the STEREOþF/X card.
This must not conflict with other existing cards.
Recommended setting: Port 220

41
This disables the port address of the STEREOþF/X card.
               ***NOT RECOMMENDED***

42
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 210.

43
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 220.

44
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 230.

45
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 240.

46
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 250.

47
This sets the port address of the STEREOþF/X card to 260.

5
Set or disable the interrupt level. This must not conflict
with other existing interrupts. The interrupt controller is
read to see if another device has allocated an interrupt.
If so, this program will query the user to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen. Most programs which use DMA sound
(ie. voice) will not work if the interrupt is disabled.
Recommended setting: IRQ7

51
This disables the interrupt level. Most programs which
use DMA sound(ie. voice) will not work if the interrupt
is disabled.

52
This sets the interrupt level to IRQ2. This must not conflict
with other existing interrupts. The interrupt controller is
read to see if another device has allocated an interrupt.
If so, this program will query the user to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen.

53
This sets the interrupt level to IRQ3. This must not conflict
with other existing interrupts. The interrupt controller is
read to see if another device has allocated an interrupt.
If so, this program will query the user to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen.

54
This sets the interrupt level to IRQ5. This must not conflict
with other existing interrupts. The interrupt controller is
read to see if another device has allocated an interrupt.
If so, this program will query the user to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen.

55
This sets the interrupt level to IRQ7. This must not conflict
with other existing interrupts. The interrupt controller is
read to see if another device has allocated an interrupt.
If so, this program will query the user to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen.

6
Set the speed or disable the (joystick) gameport.
Some joystick applications are machine speed dependent,
so if you have a fast machine, choose the "fast" option.

61
This disables the (joystick) gameport.

62
This sets the speed of the (joystick) gameport to fast.
Some joystick applications are machine speed dependent,
so if you have a slow machine, choose the "slow" option.

63
This sets the speed of the (joystick) gameport to slow.
Some joystick applications are machine speed dependent,
so if you have a fast machine, choose the "fast" option.

7
Set the (power-up) default "mix" (ie. audio loopback).
If "mix" is on, signals sent to the audio input will
be mixed with any generated output and sent to the
audio output. Some programs (eg. WinDAT) change the
"mix" setting. They do not affect the default setting.

71
Set the "mix" off. Signals sent to the audio input
will not be sent to the audio output.

72
Set the "mix" on. Any signals sent to the audio
input will be mixed with any generated output
and sent to the audio output.

8
Set the (power-up) default audio input "line/mic" level
setting. The mic setting compensates for microphone
levels, which are much weaker signals than line levels
such as from a CD player. Some programs (eg. WinDAT)
change the "line/mic" setting. They do not affect the
default setting.

81
Set the default audio input for mic level. This
setting should be used for low level inputs such as
microphones.

82
Set the default audio input for line level. This
setting should be used for high level inputs such as
CD and tape decks.

9
The STEREOþF/X incorporates buffered DMA Play routines
which help reduce clicks due to interrupt latency
problems under Windows 3.0. These added buffers should
be completely invisible in all programs which use
DMA play. However, if any problems occur, they can be
disabled by selecting this option.
Recommended setting: Enabled

91
Disable buffered DMA. Select this option only if buffered
DMA is causing problems.

92
Enable buffered DMA. The STEREOþF/X incorporates
buffered DMA Play routines which help reduce clicks
due to interrupt latency problems under Windows 3.0.
These added buffers should be completely invisible
in all programs which use DMA play. However, if any
problems occur, they can be disabled by selecting
the "Disabled" option.

10
A short example sound file will be played on
the left channel only.

11
A short example sound file will be played on
the right channel only.

12
A short mono sound file will be played.

13
A few notes will be played from the FM sound
generator chips.

14
MIDI output test - a MIDI note-on (channel 1, middle C)
will be sent to the MIDI output. This test is valid only
if a midi device (eg. a synthesizer) is connected to the
STEREOþF/X.

15
MIDI input test - send a MIDI note-on to the
STEREOþF/X card, and its value will be displayed.
NOTE: If your synthesizer keyboard is in running
status mode, this test will wait for a new valid
MIDI start command - so try changing parameters,
or mod wheels, etc., on your synthesizer keyboard.
This test is valid only if a midi device (eg. a
synthesizer) is connected to the STEREOþF/X.

16
Joystick test - move the joystick around and position
and button information will be displayed. The joystck
must be enabled for this test to work correctly.

20
A few notes will be played from the SAA sound
generator chips.
NOTE: If you do not have the (optional) SAA chips
installed in your card this test (and any SAA routine)
will cause your computer to lock-up.
