This installation guide describes:

o How to use EZStart to copy the Novell NetWare Client for
Microsoft Windows NT files from the SuperDisk to your PC.

o How to install the LAN driver in Microsoft Windows NT that is
running the Novell Netware Services for Windows NT.

Note: This driver supports all 8216 (Ultra) and 80xx (PLUS) Series
ISA and Micro Channel Ethernet adapters. This driver also
supports the Novell 32-bit client specification, which allows
the driver to work with Windows NT, UnixWare, and other 32-bit
Intel-based operating systems. Contact Novell for more
      information.

COPYING THE DRIVER FILES

From the EZStart Driver Installation screen, select 'Copy Files' to
copy all the files used by this driver from the SuperDisk to the
Destination Directory recommended by EZStart, or to a different
directory that you specify.

The EZStart default for copying files is a:\, as the Destination
Directory. Please make a backup copy of your SuperDisk before EZStart
copies files to the SuperDisk.

INSTALLING THE SMC8000 DRIVER IN Windows NT RUNNING Netware SERVICES

Important: If you are not using the SMC SuperDisk, make sure the
DISK.ID file is in the root directory of the disk you are
using, and that the OEMSETUP.INF and SMC8000.LAN files
reside in the root directory or a subdirectory on the disk
           you are using.

1. Log on to your NT system as an Administrator or equivalent.

2. From the Program Manager's "Main" window, double-click on the
   "Control Panel" icon.

3. Double-click on "Network". The Network Settings dialog box
   appears.

4. Select "Add Software".

5. Scroll down the list box to "<Other> Requires disk from
manufacturer". Select this option followed by "Continue". You
are prompted for a disk in Drive A.

6. Insert the NetWare Client for MS Windows NT diskette into your
computer's floppy drive and select "OK".

7. Select "NetWare Services for Windows NT" followed by "OK".

8. From the Add Network Software dialog box, select "Continue".

9. From the MS Windows NT Setup dialog box, select "OK". Setup copies
NetWare files to their appropriate directories and adds them to the
   installed software list.

10. From the Network Settings dialog box, select "Add Adapter".

11. Scroll down the list box to "<Other> Requires disk from
manufacturer". Select this option followed by "Continue". You are
prompted for a disk in Drive A.

12. Insert the SMC SuperDisk.

13. Enter the path where you want the SMC driver and information files
reside. For example, if these files reside on the SuperDisk in
    drive A, type: A:\NW386_40.

14. Select "OK".

15. Select "ODI SMC8000 Adapter for NetWare" followed by "OK". A
dialog box appears, so you can specify the settings for your SMC
    Ethernet adapter.

16. Specify the options for your SMC Ethernet adapter.

17. Select "OK". The driver you selected appears in the "Installed
    Adapters List".

18. If you need both NetWare and MS Windows NT networking services,
and you are using a single SMC Ethernet adapter, proceed to step
    19.

    OR

If you have a separate network adapter for each networking
    service, proceed to step 22.

19. From the "Installed Adapter Cards" list, select the NDIS (non-ODI)
driver for the SMC Ethernet adapter you just configured, followed
by "Remove". This step is not necessary if you do not have the
    NDIS driver installed.

20. From the Network Settings dialog box, select "Add Adapter".

21. From the list box, select "ODI Support for NDIS Protocols Adapter
(ODINSUP)" followed by "Continue". "ODI Support for NDIS
Protocols Adapter (ODINSUP)" appears in the "Installed Adapter
Cards" list. Any pre-installed MS Windows NT networking software
will now bind to this adapter.

22. From the Network Settings dialog box, select "Bindings" to view
    the NetWare drive bindings.

23. After exiting the Network Settings dialog box, you are prompted
to restart your system. You must restart your system for NetWare
    Services to become active.
