This installation guide describes how to:

o How to use EZStart to copy the Banyan Vines driver files from
   the SuperDisk to your PC.

o Prepare your PC's operating system so you can attach to the
   network.

Note: This driver supports all 8216 (Ultra), 80xx (Elite),
80xx (PLUS), and 8416 (EtherEZ) Series ISA, EISA, and Micro
      Channel Ethernet adapters.

COPYING THE DRIVER FILES

From the Driver Installation screen, select 'Copy Files' to copy all
the files used by this driver from the SuperDisk to the Destination
Directory recommended by EZStart, or to a different directory that
you specify.

PREPARING YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM

The following example shows how to create a boot diskette for a
Banyan client workstation that uses an SMC EtherEZ LAN adapter and
SMC8000.DOS NDIS driver.

Note: You need to have an existing Banyan network operating
system running to perform this task.

1. Create a DOS boot diskette.

2. Using any text editor, add the following lines to your
   CONFIG.SYS file:

   DEVICE=A:\PROTMAN.DOS/I:A:\
   DEVICE=A:\SMC8000.DOS

3. Make sure that the SMC NDIS driver file (SMC8000.DOS) and the
PROTOCOL.INI file are both copied to the boot diskette.

4. Run PCCOPY (a Vines utility) to copy the PC configuration
software and the LAN driver files from the VINES server to your
boot diskette. Specify drive A as your Destination Directory
when prompted by the operating system. Make sure to select
NDIS Ethernet as your LAN driver option.

5. Run PCCONFIG (another VINES utility) from the boot diskette
to configure your client PC for the network:

   o Select "Network Card Settings".

   o Press the Enter key.

   o Select "NDIS Ethernet".

   o Press Enter.

o Enter the interrupt that the adapter is using.

   o Press Enter.

o On the "PROTOCOL.INI bindings =" line, type the entry name
that matches the "Bindings=" statement in your PROTOCOL.INI
      file.

   o Press Enter.

o Press F10 to save your configuration.

o Press Esc to exit the current screen.

6. Reboot your computer.
