This installation guide describes:

o How to use EZStart to copy the DOS ODI driver from the
   SuperDisk to your PC.

o How to setup a SMC Ethernet workstation to communicate with
   both Novell NetWare 386 and IBM AS400 networks concurrently.

COPYING THE DRIVER

From the EZStart Driver Installation screen, select 'Copy Files'
to copy all the files used by this driver from the SuperDisk to
the Destination Directory that you specify.

SETUP PROCEDURE

1. Copy the following files to your workstation:

        LSL.COM
        ODINSUP.COM
        IPXODI.COM
        NETX.COM

   These files may be acquired from Novell Technical Support or
   from the Novell section on CompuServe (type GO NOVELL at the
   CompuServe prompt, currently the DOSUP7.ZIP download). When
   copying these files to your workstation, it does not matter
   under which subdirectory you place them. For convenience,
   copy all these files to the same directory. \LSP is the
   subdirectory that we recommend.

2. Check to see that the IBM LAN Support Program has correctly
   installed the following files in the \LSP subdirectory of
   your workstation:

        NETBIND.EXE
        PROTMAN.DOS
        DXMEOMOD.SYS
        DXMAOMOD.SYS

   If they have not been installed, copy them from the LAN Support
   Program diskette to your workstation. The DXMEOMOD.SYS and
   DXMAOMOD.SYS files should be version 1.3 or higher.

3. Ensure that the following lines are correct in your system
   NET.CFG under the Protocol and Link Driver sections:

        Protocol ODINSUP
                 Bind SMC8416

        Link Driver SMC8416
                 Frame Ethernet_802.3
                 Frame Ethernet_802.2
                 Frame Ethernet_II
                 Frame Ethernet_SNAP
                 Protocol IPX 0 Ethernet_802.3

   You need all four frame types for the system to load properly.
   The Protocol IPX line is only necessary when the 802.3 frame
   type is not the first entry.

4. Using a text editor, open the PROTOCOL.INI file located on your
   workstation. Usually, this file is in the \LSP directory.
   Make a backup of the current PROTOCOL.INI file and then edit
   PROTOCOL.INI to add the following lines:

        [PROTMAN_MOD]
                DriverName = PROTMAN$

        [DXMEO_NIF]
                DriverName = DXMEO$
                Bindings = SMC8416

5. Using a text editor, edit the CONFIG.SYS file on your
   workstation to add the following lines:

        device=\lsp\protman.dos
        device=\lsp\dxma0mod.sys 001
        device=\lsp\dxme0mod.sys
        device=\lsp\eimpcs.sys
        device=\lsp\ecyddx.sys files=8 drives=6

6. Using a text editor, edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on your
   workstation to add the following lines:

        cls
        cd\ (add the directory name where SMC8416 resides)
	lsl
	SMC8416
	ipxodi
	odinsup
	netbind
	netx
	f:

7. Reboot the workstation.

   The workstation displays the F: prompt.

Your workstation can now communicate with both Novell NetWare 386
and AS400 networks.
