	This  file describes release 4.3(2) of the Smart LAN Support Software for 
	the following Ringnodes:

	      Smart 16/4 EISA Ringnode     Smart 16/4 ISA Client Ringnode    
	      Smart 16/4 MC32 Ringnode     Smart 16/4 AT Ringnode
	      Smart 16/4 MC Ringnode       Smart 16/4 AT Plus Ringnode  
	      Smart 16 Ringnode            Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode
	      Smart 16/4 PCMCIA Ringnode   Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode (BM)
	      Smart 16/4 ISA Client Plus Ringnode
	      Smart 16/4 ISA Client PnP Ringnode

	Release 4.3(2) resolves all reported Fastmac Plus problems, which are 
	listed below . These problems occurred with a complex combination of 
	different vendors' hardware, software and enviromental conditions.
	There are no new features or functional improvements to the driver
	software.

	1) Release  4.3(2)  includes the fix for the Ring Poll Lockup problem, 
	   which was traced to a timing  issue  in  the  Fastmac Plus adapter 
	   software.

	2) Release 4.3(2) includes the fix for the Temporary De-insert problem,
	   which  was  traced  to  a  problem  with  the  timers  that monitor 
	   the adapter and  workstation  status  with the Fastmac Plus adapter 
	   software.

	Release 4.3(2) contains the following bug fixes:

	1) Release 4.3(2) includes the fix for the problems with the Madge
	   Smart 16/4 PCMCIA Ringnode when used with the Dell Lattitude notebook
	   in the updated Fastmac Plus drivers.

	2) Release 4.3(2) includes the fix for problems with IBM 330/350 486  
	   range of PC's in the updated Fastmac Plus drivers.

	1) This release supports all the Madge Smart 16/4 Ringnodes. It  also 
	   supports the Smart 16 Ringnode.

	2) This  release  does not include drivers for Windows NT on DEC Alpha
	   or MIPS platforms. If you require support for  these  environments, 
	   please contact Madge Technical Support (see below). 
   
	3) The versions of SMARTND.DOS and  MADGEODI.SYS  supplied  with  this 
	   release  do  not  support  remote  booting of OS/2.  If you need to 
	   remote boot OS/2 by  using  these  drivers,  please  contact  Madge 
	   Technical Support for the most recent versions of the drivers.

	4) The release disks do not include drivers for UNIX stations. If  you 
	   require  support  for  UNIX, please contact Madge Technical Support 
	   (see  below).   There  are  drivers  available  for  the  following 
	   implementations of UNIX:
   
	   SCO          (Madge part number: 87-00)
	   AIX          (Madge part number: 87-01)
	   SOLARIS      (Madge part number: 87-02)
	   UNIXWARE     (Madge part number: 87-03)
   
	5) This  release  does  not include drivers for NetWare 2.x servers or 
	   workstations. To obtain drivers for  NetWare  2.x,  please  contact 
	   Madge Technical Support quoting the version of NetWare 2.x that you 
	   need to support.

	6) The  release  disks  include  a  program  called  IFADAP.EXE.  This 
	   program supersedes the IFIBM.EXE  program  which  was  included  in 
	   previous  releases of the Smart LAN Support Software.  It gives you 
	   more flexibility than IFIBM.EXE if you want to use  a  single  boot 
	   disk  to  boot  workstations  that  have different kinds of network 
	   adapter installed. For more information, please read the IFADAP.INF 
	   file.

	use this utility: 

	   1) Put this disk into the A: drive. 
	   2) Change drive to A:

	   4) The screen displays a list  of topics for which information  is 
	      available. Select the desired topic.

	CompuServe  provides  a world-wide information service used by a large 
	number of organizations for purposes which include: disseminating  and 
	accessing reference material; distributing software; providing product 
	service  and  support.  Madge's  service on CompuServe is divided into

	You need a modem to access this BBS. Note that ideally you should  use 
	an  ANSI  (VT100)  terminal  emulator (for example, PROCOMM) with your 
	serial port set to 8-bit data, NO parity check, and ONE stop bit.  The 
	US  BBS runs  at  up to 9600 baud while the UK BBS runs at up to 14400 
	baud. Download protocols supported are X,Y, and Z modem. 

	The BBS is an open system so anyone can login.  When  you  login,  the 
	system  prompts  you for your name.  If you are a new user, the system 
	asks if you have spelt your name correctly and then prompts you for  a 
	password.   As  a  new user, the system asks you a series of questions 
	including acknowledgement of the Madge BBS license  agreement.   These 
	only  occur  on  your  first login, therefore, answer as accurately as 
	possible. The BBS includes full online help.
