Novell NetWare MultiProtocol Router
===================================                         March 1995
                                                            ----------

To install and configure NetWare MultiProtocol Router version 2.1, and
MultiProtocol Router Plus version 2.1 for use with a Madge Ringnode
(or Straight Blue adapter), read the NetWare MultiProtocol Router
Installation Guide in conjunction with the following instructions.

If you are using source routing, you must install a Madge Bridgenode
or Straight Blue adapter. Smart 16/4 Ringnodes do not support source
routing for MultiProtocol Router.

1 Install your adapters following the instructions in the Madge
   hardware installation guide.

2 Load NetWare's INSTALL.NLM utility.

3 Select Product Options from the "Installation Options" menu.

4 Press [Insert] and perform the interactive procedure for installing
MPR from a floppy disk. When installation is complete, exit the MPR
   Install program.

5 Load NetWare's INETCFG.NLM utility.

6 Select "LAN and WAN Board Parameters".

7 Select the MADGEODI driver for Smart 16/4 Ringnodes, or the TOKEN
driver for Straight Blue adapters. (If you want source routing,
plus access to the server on Multiprotocol Router version 2.1, load
the virtual driver VBRIDGE as well.)

8 Select Add New Board.

9 Specify a logical name for the adapter.

10 In the parameters field, enter the port address (AT and EISA
adapters) or slot number (Micro-Channel adapters).

11 For frame type select TOKEN-RING or TOKEN-RING_SNAP. Each logical
name supports one frame type. Create a new logical name for each
   frame type you require.

12 Enable and configure the protocols you need. If you require source
routing, enable the source routing option. If you are source
routing between three or more interfaces, specify a virtual ring
   number greater than zero.

13 Bind the protocols to the adapters. If you have enabled source
routing, bind the Bridge protocol to each logical name.

14 Configure SNMP information if you intend to use SNMP remote
   management tools.

15 Edit your AUTOEXEC.NCF file by deleting all existing adapter-driver
bindings, and inserting the following lines:

   LOAD LSLENH
   LOAD SNMP
   INITIALIZE SYSTEM

16 Your installation and configuration of NetWare MultiProtocol Router
or MultiProtocol Router Plus is now complete.
