This README file is provided the information how to install the
VESA/IDE device driver to your SCO UNIX Operation System.
Please follow these steps listed below to install the VIA VESA/IDE
device driver.
The following steps are used to convert the "VT83C461 VLB IDE Device
Drivers" which is prepared with DOS format to a SCO UNIX "custom"
installable diskette.
1. You need to have an extra blank diskette ,1.2 MB (5.25") or
1.44 MB (3.5"), to complete the installation.
2. Login to the SCO UNIX with "root" supper user account.
3. Insert the "VT83C461 VLB IDE Device Drivers diskette" into the 3.5"
disk drive.
4. Type the following commands under the SCU UNIX prompt "#":
# doscp a:/unix/install /tmp
# sh /tmp/install
Here the "a:" drive name is the 3.5" disk drive. In all of the
installation the device name will be assigned to "a:". You could
change the "A=" row of the "/etc/default/msdos" to the device name
accroding to your system configuration.
5. Above step will convert the DOS format diskette to a new SCO UNIX
"custom" installable diskette.
After this conversion step, you could install the "VIA VESA/IDE Device
Driver" to your SCO UNIX with the "custom" command.
