Duplex Support for the Intel EtherExpress(TM) PRO/10+ adapter

Duplexing is a performance option that lets you choose how the adapter
sends and receives packets over the network.

There are three duplex modes:

-  Auto-negotiate (requires an auto-negotiating hub). The adapter
   negotiates with a negotiation-capable hub to determine how to send and
   receive packets, either full or half duplex.

-  Full duplex (requires full-duplex hub). The adapter sends and receives
   packets simultaneously by using a different wire to perform each
   function. This feature improves adapter performance by eliminating
   collisions. Full duplex mode works only if you're using the adapter's
   TPE connector.

-  Half duplex. The adapter performs one operation at a time (because
   send and receive lines are shared); it either sends or receives.

Warning:  Incorrectly forcing a specific duplex mode may result in poor
performance.  Consult your LAN administrator before forcing a duplex mode
or to find out what kind of hub you're attached to.


If you're using DOS, OS/2*, NetWare* or Windows* 3.x (DOS ODI clients)

Use SoftSet2.

1. Choose Change adapter configuration.

2. Choose Advanced Options menu.

3. Select Duplex mode, then choose the appropriate duplex mode.



If you're using Windows NT* or Windows 95

Set duplex mode using the "Advanced" settings in the Intel PRO adapter
setup program. See the Installation Guide for more information.
